This release adds architectural changes, bug fixes, and enhancements from V2.7-1 program. This software code release contains firmware for PERC 2 and integrated controllers, device drivers, and management utilities. This release requires all V2.8 components: firmware, device driver and management utilities. 2.0 Integrated Controller Platforms Supported ======================== The Dell V2.8 Program supports the following Dell hardware platforms: * PowerEdge 2400, integrated PERC 2/Si, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 2450, integrated PERC 3/Si, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 2500, integrated PERC 3/Di, in both non-PAE & PAE configurations * PowerEdge 2650, integrated PERC 3/Di, in both non-PAE & PAE configurations * PowerEdge 2550, integrated PERC 3/Di, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 4400, integrated PERC 3/Di, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 1650, integrated PERC 3/Di, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 4600, integrated PERC 3/Di, in both non-PAE & PAE configurations 3.0 Add-in-Card PCI Controller Supported ======================== * PERC 2 in both non-PAE and PAE configurations, on supported Dell platforms. 4.0 Operating Systems Supported ================================ This code includes drivers and application software for the following operating systems: * Windows 2000 (W2K) * Windows Server 2003 (W2K3) Operating System Updates ------------------------ * Windows 2000: Service Pack 3 or later, which fixes an OS problem related to crash dumps, is required for the PERC 2 and integrated controllers to function correctly in crash dump situations. 5.0 Driver Installation for Windows 2000 And Windows Server 2003 ============================================== To perform a fresh installation from the Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 CD: 1. Boot the system using the Windows 2000 CD. As the message "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver." appears, press F6 immediately. 2. Within a few minutes, a screen appears that asks for additional adapters in the system. Press 'S'. 3. You are prompted for the driver diskette. Insert the driver diskette in the floppy drive and press Enter. 4. A list of drivers for PERC controllers appears. Select the right driver for your installed controller and press Enter to load the driver. 5. Press Enter again to continue installation process as usual. NOTE: Before you perform the upgrade, uninstall the Controller Management Software (FAST and the CLI). See the installation guide associated with your controller for instructions on how to uninstall the Controller Management Software. To upgrade the Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 driver to V2.8 for PERC 2 and/or integrated controller, perform the following steps: NOTE: You must be logged on as Administrator to perform these steps: 1. From the desktop, right-click the My Computer icon. 2. Left-click Manage. 3. Click Device Manage. 4. Double-click SCSI and RAID Controller. A List of all currently installed SCSI drivers appears. 5. Double-click the appropriate RAID controller (such as PERC 2 Controller). 6. Select the Driver tab. 7. Select Update Driver. The Update Device Driver Wizard appears. 8. Click Next. NOTE: Selecting "Display a list of known drivers for this device so I can choose a specific driver" on PE2500 and PE2550 systems will give you "Update driver warning". continue for Windows 2000... 9. Click Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended) 10. Click Next. The Upgrade Device Driver Wizard appears. 11. Insert Windows 2000 device driver diskette. 12. Click Floppy disk drives 13. Click Next 14. Click OK on Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialoge box choosing to copy manufacturer's files from A: 15. Click Next. 16. Driver files will be copied. 17. Click Finish. 18. Click Close. 19. Shut down and reboot the system continue for Windows 2003... 9. Click Install from a list or specific location. 10. Click Next 11. Click Dont Search, I will choose the driver to install. 12. Click Next 13. Click Have Disk... 14. Insert the Windows 2003 driver diskette. 15. Select the floppy drive in the "Copy manufacturer's files from:" drop-down box. 16. Click OK. 17. Click Next. If the driver copy confirmation dialog box pops up, click Yes. 18. Click Finish. 19. Shut down and reboot the system 6.0 Known Limitations ====================== * This software code release requires all V2.8 components: firmware, device driver and management utilities. Using some components from previous releases may cause some unknown errors.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
