3COM NT Power Management TDI

As of 3/31/00

Installation:
1.  Run setup.exe to install the TDI interface driver and the Power Management Taskbar Icon.

2.  Follow the installation shield wizard and reboot when completed.

Running the 3Com NT4 NIC Power Manager:
After installation, the 3Com NT Power Manager on system startup.  A 3Com Icon will appear in 
the Status Tray on the Taskbar.  Right-Click on this icon to open the menu.  These same options 
are available under Adapter Properties in the Network Control Panel Applet.  The 3Com NT4 Power 
Manager monitors Softex Power Management events and directs them to the 3Com MiniPCI Adapter.

Removal:
1.  From the Network Control Panel Applet select the Services tab.
2.  Select the "3Com NT Power Management TDI" service.
3.  Select the Remove button.

ISSUE #1

- Double-Clicking on the 3Com Taskbar icon brings up a new dialog each time you double-click.
You have to select OK in order to remove the dialog box.  This also occurs if you right-click
on the icon and then select "About 3Com Monitor".

- Install files remain in \WINNT\TEMP directory after install and after uninstall.

ISSUE #3

- Suspend/Resume is not working properly in NT4 with Bios X15.  The Suspend/Resume power 
messages are correctly being directed to the 3Com MiniPCI Adapter.  The context is not
being restored correctly following a resume.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
