We recommend "Installation A" . If a previous version of the driver has been installed on your system, you need to uninstall it by using UNINST.EXE in "Uninst" folder before the installation. --------------------------------------------------- 5.1.1 Windows 98 Driver Installation A (Recommend) --------------------------------------------------- 1. Run USBFDD.EXE in "Inst9x" folder. 2. Restart the system. 3. Plug in the USB FDD. 4. A new 3 1/2 FDD icon will appear in "My Computer". Then it can be accessed as a normal FDD. --------------------------------------------------- 5.1.2 Windows 98 Driver Installation B --------------------------------------------------- If a previous version of the driver has been installed on your system, you need to uninstall it by using UNINST.EXE in "Uninst" folder before the installation. 1. Plug in the USB FDD. 2. Windows will detect the FlashBuster-U and run the Add New Hardware Wizard. 3. Select "Win98" folder as the location of the driver software. 4. Windows will detect the "USBFDD Port Driver" and run the Add New Hardware Wizard again. 5. Select "Win98" folder as the location of the driver software. 6. A new 3 1/2 FDD icon will appear in "My Computer". Then it can be accessed as a normal FDD. (Note) At the initial installation, USB FDD is assigned to drive D: or later. When you plug the USB FDD out and then plug it in again, the USB FDD can be assigned to drive A: if the drive A: is available. --------------------------------------------------- 5.2 Windows Me Driver installation --------------------------------------------------- The USB FDD is supported by Windows Me built-in driver. If you plug in the USB FDD, the built-in driver will be installed automatically. You can change the driver to the Y-E DATA driver in one way of the following. We recommend "Installation A". If a previous version of the Y-E DATA driver has been installed on your system, you need to uninstall it by using UNINST.EXE in "Uninst" folder before the installation. --------------------------------------------------- 5.2.1 Windows Me Driver Installation A (Recommended) --------------------------------------------------- 1. Run USBFDD.EXE in "Inst9x" folder. 2. Restart the system. 3. Plug in the USB-FDD. 4. A new 3 1/2 FDD icon will appear in "My Computer". Then it can be accessed as a normal FDD. --------------------------------------------------- 5.2.2 Windows Me Driver Installation B --------------------------------------------------- If a previous version of the Y-E DATA driver has been installed on your system, you need to uninstall it by using UNINST.EXE in "Uninst" folder before the installation. 1. Plug in the USB FDD. 2. Windows will detect the FlashBuster-U and run the Add New Hardware Wizard. Because the USB FDD is supported by the built-in driver, the built-in driver will be installed automatically. 3. Open the Device Manager with the USB FDD connected. 4. Select "Y-E DATA USB Floppy" under "Universal Serial Bus Controller". 5. Click the "Properties" button. 6. Click the "Driver" tab. 7. Click the "Update Driver ..." button. 8. Select "Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)" and click "Next". 9. Select "WinMe" folder as the location of the driver software. 10. Upon updated, the "Y-E DATA USB Floppy" will become "USB FDD". 11. Windows will detect the "USBFDD Port Driver" and run the Add New Hardware Wizard. 12. Select "WinMe" folder as the location of the driver software. 13. A new 3 1/2 FDD icon will appear in "My Computer". Then it can be accessed as a normal FDD. (Note) At the initial installation, USB FDD is assigned to drive D: or later. When you plug the USB FDD out and then plug it in again, the USB FDD can be assigned to drive A: if the drive A: is available. =================================================== 6. [Restriction] =================================================== If a previous version of the Y-E DATA driver has been installed on your system, be sure to uninstall it by using UNINST.EXE in "Uninst" folder prior to installation of the driver in this release (Version 4.54). After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
