Dell V2.8 Program Release Notes ================================= Table Of Contents ================= 1.0 Program Description 2.0 Integrated Controller Platforms Supported 3.0 Add-in-Card PCI Controller Supported 4.0 Operating Systems Supported 5.0 Driver Installation for Windows NT4 6.0 Known Limitations 1.0 Program Description ======================== The Dell V2.8 program delivers a new release of software code that applies to PERC 2 and integrated (PERC 2/Si, PERC 3/Si, and PERC 3/Di) controllers, hereinafter referred to as PERC 2 and integrated controllers. This release adds architectural changes, bug fixes, and enhancements from V2.7-1 program. This software code release contains firmware for PERC 2 and integrated controllers, device drivers, and management utilities. This release requires all V2.8 components: firmware, device driver and management utilities. 2.0 Integrated Controller Platforms Supported ======================== The Dell V2.8 Program supports the following Dell hardware platforms: * PowerEdge 2400, integrated PERC 2/Si, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 2450, integrated PERC 3/Si, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 2500, integrated PERC 3/Di, in both non-PAE & PAE configurations * PowerEdge 2650, integrated PERC 3/Di, in both non-PAE & PAE configurations * PowerEdge 2550, integrated PERC 3/Di, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 4400, integrated PERC 3/Di, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 1650, integrated PERC 3/Di, non-PAE only * PowerEdge 4600, integrated PERC 3/Di, in both non-PAE & PAE configurations 3.0 Add-in-Card PCI Controller Supported ======================== * PERC 2 in both non-PAE and PAE configurations, on supported Dell platforms. 4.0 Operating Systems Supported ================================ This code includes drivers and application software for the following operating systems: * Windows NT 4.0 Operating System Updates ------------------------ * Windows 2000: Service Pack 3 or later, which fixes an OS problem related to crash dumps, is required for the PERC 2 and integrated controllers to function correctly in crash dump situations. 5.0 Driver Installation for Windows NT 4.0 ============================================== To perform a fresh installtion of the Windows NT device drivers for the controller, follow these steps: 1. Boot the system using the Windows NT 4.0 CD. 2. When the message: "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" appears, press F6 immediately. 3. The Windows NT 4.0 Setup screen will appear, requesting input for additional adapters in the system. Press 'S' to specify an additional adapter. 4. A selection menu will appear. Scroll to "Other" and hit ENTER. 5. Insert the driver diskette and press ENTER when prompted. 6. The selection: "DELL PERC 2, 2/Si, 3/Si, 3/Di RAID CONTROLLERS" will appear, hit ENTER. 7. After the driver has loaded, press ENTER to continue the installation. NOTE: Before you perform the upgrade, uninstall the Controller Management Software (FAST and the CLI). See the installation guide associated with your controller for instructions on how to uninstall the Controller Management Software. To upgrade the Windows NT device drivers for the controller, follow these steps: 1. Follow this path from Start: Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> SCSI Adapters -> Drivers 2. Click on 'ADD' in the Driver window. 3. The system displays an "Install Driver" window. Select "Have Disk". 4. The system displays an "Install From Disk" window. The "Install Driver" window instructs you to insert the manufacturer's installation media into the drive and click < Ok>. In this case, insert the diskette that contains the NT device drivers for your controller 5. Enter the drive and location of the files. The default location on the diskette that contains the NT device drivers is: "a:\". The system displays a message identifying the controller for which you want to upgrade the Windows NT device drivers. The message requests that you click the <Ok> button. 6. The system displays "System Settings Change" and asks if you want to restart the computer. Press YES. 6.0 Known Limitations ====================== * This software code release requires all V2.8 components: firmware, device driver and management utilities. Using some components from previous releases may cause some unknown errors.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
