       This document provides instructions for upgrading Windows 2000 device
       driver to the V2.6 DELL PERC 2 and intgrated (PERC 2/Si, PERC 3/Si
       and PERC 3/Di) controllers, hereinafter referred to as the  PERC 2
       and/or integrated controller.

       1.0   Introducing the Product

       The PERC 2 and integrated family of controllers integrates
       advanced RAID technology with state-of-the-art controller
       hardware to deliver industry-leading performance, data
       availability, and storage management features.

       You upgrade the Windows 2000 device drivers for your
       controller when a maintenance fix needs to be applied to the
       currently installed Windows 2000 device drivers for the
       controller.

       2.0   Contents of the Kit

       The Windows 2000 device drivers for the controller reside on a
       single diskette.          

       3.0 Upgrading the Windows 2000 Device Drivers

       NOTE: Before you perform the upgrade, uninstall the
             Controller Management Software (FAST and the CLI).
             See the installation guide associated with your
             controller for instructions on how to uninstall the
             Controller Management Software.
       
       To upgrade the Windows 2000 driver to V2.6.0 for PERCC 2 and/or
       integrated controller, perform the following steps:

       NOTE: You must be logged on as Administrator to perform these steps:

       1.  From the desktop, right-click the My Computer icon.
       2.  Left-click Manage.
       3.  Click Device Manage.
       4.  Double-click SCSI and RAID Controller.
            A List of all currently installed SCSI drivers appears.
       5.  Double-click the appropriate RAID controller (such as PERC 2
           Controller).
       6.  Select the Driver tab.
       7.  Select Update Driver.
            The Update Device Driver Wizard appears.
       8.  Click Next.
       9.  Click Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)

       NOTE: Selecting "Display a list of known drivers for this device so
             I can choose a specific driver" on PE2500 and PE2550 systems
             will give you "Update driver warning".

       10. Click Next.
            The Upgrade Device Driver Wizard appears.
       11. Insert Windows 2000 device driver diskette.
       12. Click Floppy disk drives
       13. Click Next
       14. Click OK on Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialoge box choosing
           to copy manufacturer's files from A:\
       15. Click Next.
       16. Driver files will be copied.
       17. Click Finish.
       18. Click Close.
       19. Shut down and reboot the system

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
