3C0M ETHERLINK SERVER CD
------------------------

This 3Com EtherLink Server CD contains diagnostic and configuration
programs as well as drivers for some of today's popular operating
systems along with installation instructions.  This help file
provides an overview of this CD's contents.

        Identification files

    3C90XCFG.EXE: 
        DOS diagnostic program.

    3C90XCFG.PIF
        PIF file to ensure 3C90XCFG.EXE runs in DOS mode only.

    3C90XENG.HLP: 
        Help file for the DOS diagnostic program.

    EL98X20.CAT:
	Digital Signature file for Windows 2000.

    INFO.TXT:
        Information text for the MAKEDISK Utility program.

    LICENSE.TXT:
        3Com's Software License Agreement for the software on the
        3Com EtherLink Server CD.

    MAKEDISK.EXE:
        Utility to create floppy installation disks

    OEMSETUP.INF: 
        Windows NT 4.0 OEM import file.

    README.TXT:
        Important notes for the 3C980C-TXM EtherLink Server NIC.

    ROADMAP.TXT:
        This file, a listing of the CD contents.

    PARTNO:       
        Contains the part number and version of this 3Com EtherLink
        Server CD.

        general support information.

    Manuals:
        Contains the HTML version of the user guide.

    INSTALLS:
        Contains MBA clients, DMI Agent installation files

    NDIS2:
        Contains NDIS2 driver for server based installation

    NWCLIENT:
        Contains DOS ODI 16 bit driver for server based installation

    NWSERVER:  
         Contains a server driver, LDI import file, and appropriate
         server .NLMs for loading into a NetWare 4.x server, as
         well as some Netware specific installation / configuration
         / README infomation.

    TD:
        NIC diagnostic files.

    WIN32:  
        Contains 32-bit Windows applications and support files.

    WINNT:  
        Contains NDIS 4.0 miniport driver, README.TXT and support files
        specific to Windows NT 4.0.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
