Windows 2000 Display Driver Installation Procedure:

1. Boot Windows2000 and log in as the administrator (or anyone who has admin privileges).
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Display icon.
4. Click Settings [tab] and then click Advanced ...
5. Select the Adapter tab and click Properties.
6. Select the Driver tab and click Update Drivers....
7. Click Next in the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard.
8. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device [recommended]" and click Next.
9. Select the checkbox "Specify a location". Click Next.
10. You will be prompted to supply the path to the driver.  Enter the path in the text field or select the Browse button and then choose OK.
* Note:  The path should be the directory the driver files were unpacked in.
11. The search results may point to the correct path or a "c:\winnt\inf\oemX.inf" path.  Ignore this screen by selecting the Next button.
* Note:  In some cases it may ask for the location of the driver twice.  Be sure to provide the proper path used in step 10 above.
12. Choose Finish and then choose CLose at the Display Properties dialog window.
13. When prompted, Select the Yes button to reboot the computer to complete the upgrade.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
