[INTRODUCTION]
1.1 Foreword
    This driver diskette should be used with all Promise SATA150 Series
    adapters and onboard chipsets running SuSE Linux.
    Do NOT use this diskette for other Linux distributions or other Promise 
    product.

[INSTALLATION]
       Extract the contents of the ZIP file on to a formatted floppy disk.
       (ZIP file can be extracted by `WinZIP' in windows or `unzip' in linux)
       Label the disk "Promise Driver Disk".

2.1 To install the SATA150 Series Linux Driver into an EXISTING SYSTEM:

     1) Boot linux system and login as root.
     2) Insert Promise SATA150 Driver Diskette
        Issue command to load new driver at the # command prompt:
        # mount /dev/fd0 /floppy
	# cd /floppy
	# sh install	(Answer Yes/No when inquire setup configuration)
        You can answer Yes to load SATA150 driver when linux booting 
	everytime.
	# cd /
	# umount /floppy
    
2.2 To install the SATA150 Series Linux Driver into a NEW SYSTEM:

     1) Start the SuSE installation by booting from SuSE CD1.
     2) When CD boots, press left "Alt" key and choose the first option 
        "Installation".
     3) Insert the Promise SATA150 Driver Diskette when it displays 
        "Please insert the Driver Update floppy".
     4) Continue with the installation as normal.
     5) When the "The LILO boot sector has been written to disk..." dialog box
        appears.
        For SuSE 8.0:
            a) Please click "OK" button to finish installation.

        For SuSE 7.3:
            a) Please press Ctrl-Alt-F2 to switch screen.
            b) Insert SATA150 Disk floppy, and issuse commands to setup SATA150
               driver correctly.
               # chroot /mnt
               # mount /dev/fd0 /floppy
               # cd /floppy
               # sh setup-ft
	       # cd /
	       # umount /floppy
	       # exit
            c) Please press Ctrl-Alt-F7 and click "OK" button to finish 
               installation.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
