Description:
The 3Dlabs Wildcat Pro Display Driver provides support for accelerated
high resolution, true andhigh color graphics using OpenGL.
This driver supports multi-frequency video monitors, including DDC capable
Monitors.
This driver supports the following languages: Simplified Chinese, Traditional
Chinese, Danish, English(US), English(UK), Finish, French, German,
Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish
If the currently installed Windows 2000 language is not one of the above
choices, the installation will default to English.
This release of the Wildcat Pro Display Driver will only install and run on
systems running Windows 2000.
Heidi® and 3D Studio Max® driver are included with this release on separate packages.
For information on installing the Heidi® and 3D Studio Max® drivers, see the readme.txt files
included on those packages.

Installation Help
=================
This driver will not run on any machine that does not have PCI backplane
hardware. The Wildcat Pro Display driver will work with both AGP and
AGP Pro versions of the Wildcat Display adapter.
See MANIFEST.TXT for a list of delivered files.
Please refer to the installation documentation provided with the media
supplied with your system.
If you are installing an updated driver, please refer to the "Customer
Support" section below.
WINDOWS 2000 PLUG AND PLAY
--------------------------
For driver installation and removal, refer to the Hardware section
of the Windows 2000 online help. This Help is generally available by
clicking on "Start" at the bottom left of the screen, and selecting the
help entry from the menu.
Automated Installation Help
===========================
Extract Video Driver from the Dell ResourceCD
1. Insert the Dell ResourceCD into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.
2. If the Dell ResourceCD window does not open automatically, double-click on My Computer
on your desktop and then double-click on the CD/DVD-ROM drive containing the Dell ResourceCD.
3. Follow the instructions provided by the Dell ResourceCD to locate the video driver
package for your card.
4. Once you have located the package, select it to unzip the driver on to the hard drive.
These files are extracted by default directory to the C:\Dell\Drivers\xxxx (where xxxxx is the name of the driver being unzipped).
5. At the WinZip Self-Extractor screen, click OK.
6. At the Dell Computer Self-Extracting Driver Installation screen, click Unzip. Once the
files have been unzipped, click OK.
7. In a moment, your browser opens with further instructions for installing the driver.
Install Updated Video Driver in Windows 2000
NOTE: The following instructions refer to installation of the driver from your Dell
Resource CD. If you downloaded the driver from the Dell Support web site, then in
instruction 3 below type the correct path on your hard drive where the new driver
has been downloaded.
1. This driver must be installed by a user with Windows Administrator privileges. Please
consult your system administrator or Microsoft Windows 2000 User's Manual for more information on Administrator privileges.
2. Start Microsoft Windows 2000.
3. Double click on the Setup.exe file located with the driver package. If you extracted
the drivers from the Dell Resource CD using the default directory they will be located
in C:\Dell\Drivers\xxxxx (where xxxxx is the name of the driver being unzipped).
4. In the Wildcat Driver Installation Message dialog box, click OK to begin the driver
install procedure. Click Cancel to dismiss the installation.
5. After the driver installs, click Yes to reboot the system.
NOTE: You must reboot the system after driver installation for the changes to take place.
Uninstall Help
==============
To uninstall this version of the 3DLabs Wildcat Pro Display Driver,
use the Add/Remove Programs Properties utility in the Control Panel.
WINDOWS 2000 UNINSTALL
------------------------
1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel
and double-click Add/Remove Programs.
2. On the Add/Remove Software Programs Properties dialog, select "Wildcat Display
Driver" from the list of available programs, and click Add/Remove to
uninstall the existing driver.
3. A dialog will appear which describes the function of the 3Dlabs
Display Driver uninstall program. You will be prompted to verify
the removal of the Display Driver. Click Yes to complete the driver
removal.
Screen Resolution and Refresh Rate Table
========================================
To access the list of available screen resolutions and refresh rates,
select the "List All Modes..." button on the Adapter page of the Advanced Display Properties dialog.
1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel
and double-click Display.
2. From the Display Properties dialog, click the Settings tab.
3. Click the Advanced button.
4. Click the Adapter tab.
5. Click "List All Modes..." to access the table of
supported screen resolutions and refresh rates.
Monitor Selection
=================
The "Wildcat Monitor" page in Display Properties must be used to
change the monitor type.
1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and
double-click Display.
2. On the Display Properties dialog, click the Settings tab.
3. Click the Advanced button.
4. Click the Wildcat Monitor tab.
5. Click the "Configure Monitor" button.
The "Configure Monitor" dialog will be displayed.
6. Select one of the three monitor types: Generic, Plug-and-Play, or Vendor.
Selection of one of these three monitor types will potentially alter the
list of resolutions reported in the "Available Resolutions" field.
- The Generic monitor type will provide a list of generic resolutions.
- The Plug-and-Play monitor type will provide a list of the resolutions
supported by the monitor plugged into the system if the monitor is
Plug-and-Play capable.
- The Dell monitor selection allows you to choose a specific monitor
from the provided list of monitors.
Once you have chosen a monitor, the resolution and refresh rate nearest
to the current settings will be highlighted.
7. Click OK to accept the new monitor, resolution, and refresh settings.
A dialog box will display inquiring whether you wish to keep the new
settings. If you select Yes, the settings will be changed and the
Configure Monitor dialog will be dismissed. If you select No, the
settings will revert to previous settings.
8. Click OK to dismiss the Advanced dialog.
9. Click CANCEL to dismiss the Display Properties dialog. (NOTE: If you click OK, the monitor settings will revert to the previous settings.)
Display Modes
=============
1. Choose the Display icon in the Control Panel.
2. On the Display Properties dialog, click the Settings tab.
3. Select a resolution from the Available Resolutions list.
4. Click OK to accept the new display mode.
5. Click OK to dismiss the Advanced dialog.
6. Click CANCEL to dismiss the Display Properties dialog. (NOTE: If you click OK, the monitor settings will revert to the previous settings.)
Configuration
=============
The "Wildcat Configuration" page in Advanced Display Properties must be used to
change the driver configuration.
The Synchronize Buffer Swap to Vertical Sync check box on the Wildcat
Configuration tab is checked by default. This provides the highest visual
quality. To obtain higher frame rate performance for benchmarking purposes,
clear this check box so that the display is not synchronized to vertical sync. When
this option is not checked, you may experience certain screen artifacts such
as tearing; however, this box should generally be unchecked for performance
benchmarking.
Click Config Wizard on the Wildcat Configuration tab to activate a
step-by-step interface that will allow you to modify your current display
configuration or create a new one. In the Wildcat Configuration Wizard, click
Next and follow the prompts to create a new configuration, or modify or delete
an existing one.
The default bitplane mode is 96; some resolutions are available only in 96 bitplane mode.
Context-Sensitive Help
======================
Context-sensitive help is provided for 3Dlabs Wildcat dialogs in the Display
properties applet. The only exception to this is the Configuration Wizard,
which provides detailed instructions for each step. Context-sensitive help
for a particular control is accessible using three different methods.
- Click the question mark located on the title bar of the active dialog.
The cursor will change to the help select cursor. Next, click
on the control for which you wish to receive help.
- Right-click the control for which you wish to receive help.
- Set the focus on the control for which you wish to receive help and press F1.
Any of these methods will display a small box filled with text that provides
information on the control you have chosen.

Experience has shown that problem solving is expedited if you supply the
following information when first contacting the Dell support engineer.
1. SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION
a. Operating System and driver version and dates.
b. Has the system/nucleus software configuration changed recently?
2. HARDWARE CONFIGURATION
a. CPU, including number of CPUs.
b. Graphics card, including geometry board if installed.
3. PROBLEM SPECIFICS
a. How when does the problem occur?
b. What error messages are displayed?
c. Does it happen on more than one machine?
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
