Boot to DOS bootable environment (Windows 9x DOS mode and DOS boxes are not supported) 2. Insert "Promise FastTrak SX4000 Driver" Disk 3. Change directory to \memtest 4. Type "memtest.exe" Memtest will a qualify a specific memory module and prove the integridty of the SDRAM on the FastTrak SX RAID controller. =========================================================================================== Instructions for installing the Windows Driver and "Promise RAID Console". ***New Windows Installation Instructions: 1. Start the installation: Boot from the CD-ROM. Press F6 after the message “Press F6 if you need to install third party SCSI or RAID driver” appears. 2. When the Windows Setup screen is generated, press "S" to specify an Additional Device(s). 3. Insert the Promise Technology driver diskette into drive A: and press "Enter". 4. Choose the applicable Promise FastTrak OS driver for which you are installing from the list that appears on screen, and then press "Enter". 5. The Windows Setup screen will appear again saying “Setup will load support for the following mass storage devices:” The list will include the Promise FastTrak SX4000 driver that you have just installed. NOTE: If you need to specify any additional devices to be installed, do so at this time. Once all devices are specified, continue to the next step. 7. From the Windows Setup screen, press "Enter". Setup will now load all device files and then continue the Windows installation. Continue to install the Windows operating system. 8. After installing the Operating system, enter the Device Manager. 9. Under the “Other” category, there should be a “Promise RAID Console” entry. Right click on the device and select the “Uninstall...” option for the Promise RAID Console device. 10. Then either click on “Action” and then click on “Scan for hardware changes” or right click on the system name at the top of the tree and select “Scan for hardware changes” 11. A box should appear with two options. Option one is to search the various drives for the component drivers and option two is to manually select the component from a list. Select option two to manually select the device from a list. 12. Then you must choose the device category. Select the “System Devices” group. 13. A list of various devices will be shown. There is a “Have Disk” button. Click on the “Have Disk” button. 14. Insert the "Promise FastTrak Driver" disk and select the applicable OS directory. 15. Then browse the directory for the FASTCON.INF and select it. 16. Follow the steps on the screen to complete the process. ***Existing Windows Installation Instructions: After installing the FastTrak SX4000 card and powering on your system, the Windows OS will show a "Found New Hardware" dialog box. 1. Insert the FastTrak SX4000 driver diskette into the A: drive. 2. Choose "search for a suitable driver" for my device (recommended). Click Next. 3. When "Optional search locations" appear, choose "Specify a location", then insert the Promise Technology FastTrak SX4000 diskette into drive A:. 4. Click the "browse" option and manually select the OS folder on the A: drive and then click Next and select the fastsx.inf for the applicable OS. 5. If Digital Signature not found and displays the following windows driver, Promise FastTrak SX4000. Click Yes. 6. When completing the "New Hardware Wizard", click "Finish". 7. After installing the FastTrak driver and rebooting your system, next you will need to install the Promise Raid Console. The Windows OS setup will show a New Hardware Found dialog box. Under the Windows OS, the Promise RAID Console SCSI Processor Device will be displayed. Click Next. 8. Choose Display a list of known drivers for this device so that you can choose a specific driver. Click Next. 9. Choose system devices. Click Next. 10. Choose Promise RAID Console from the list that appears on screen, and then press the Enter key. 11. Will display Update Driver Warning. Click Yes. 12. When displays Start Device Driver Installation. Click Next. 13. When completing the "New Hardware Wizard", click "Finish". The Promise RAID Console interacts with the OS to inform the OS when arrays are added (created) or removed (deleted or off-line state) from the system. If the RAID Console is not installed, the OS can still attempt to write to the off-line array causing delayed writes, timeout conditions, irregular system hangs, etc.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
