README.TXT Driver File Contents (PCISCSIDC390_390T.zip)

This driver diskette contains driver directories for DOS, Windows (WFWG),
Windows NT, Windows 95, OS/2, and NetWare.

<Unix Drivers>
1. SCO UNIX 3.2v4.x & UnixWare 1.1 (SVR4.2 version 1) drivers are in the other
   driver diskette
2. SCO Open Server 5.0, FreeBSD & Linux drivers can be accessed at
   ftp://ftp.tekram.com/scsi or http://www.tekram.com.

A DOS driver installation file (INSTALL.EXE), which resides in the <DOS>
directory, can help you install the drivers by auto-updating the AUTOEXEC.BAT
& CONFIG.SYS files.

9. SCO UNIX 3.2v4.x driver Installation/Un-installation:
This following explains how to install SCO UNIX Boot Time Loadable Driver
(BTLD) for Tekram PCI SCSI adapter DC-390.
Note: The SCO UNIX mentioned here would cover SCO UNIX System V 3.2v4.x and
SCO ODT (Open DeskTop) 2.0/3.0 and later. Since BTLD is not supported in
earlier versions of SCO UNIX, it is highly recommended that you upgrade your
SCO UNIX to the above mentioned versions in order to fully utilize the power
of a varity of hardware devices.

Two different installation procedures would be described separately. Use the
one fit your environment:
=> SCO UNIX has been installed on a non-SCSI boot drive
=> SCO UNIX is to be installed from scratch on a SCSI drive attached to
        DC-390

< 9.1 Driver Installation for an installed SCO UNIX system on a non-SCSI
  boot drive: >
  1. Boot SCO UNIX into administration (single user) mode.
  2. It is required to make a backup copy of the working UNIX kernel in case
hazardous conditions take place. Use the following command to make the
        copy first:
                cp /unix /unix.ok
  3. Insert BTLD driver diskette into floppy drive to start driver
        installation by typing:
                installpkg
  4. The screen would then show the driver package description like the
        following:
                NAME DESCRIPTION
                tps.pkg Tekram PCI SCSI DC-390 (v1.0)

Go on typing the following command to install the driver:
                tps.pkg

A series of messages would be displayed and the procedure is completed.
  5. If any SCSI device is to be added (it is NOT necessary to have the
hardware actually connected !!), it is the proper time to do it now
(Refer to SCO UNIX administrator's manual for how to add SCSI devices
        to system).
Note: It's important that when asked to input the driver prefix, enter
tps in response, and proceed as normal. Otherwise you can
manually edit the SCSI device configuration file
              /etc/conf/cf.d/mscsi.
  6. After devices are added, rebuild kernel as instructed. If you do not
plan to add any device, in order to rebuild the kernel, type the
        following commands:
                cd /etc/conf/cf.d
                ./link_unix
  7. Reboot the system to have the driver take effect.

< 9.2 Installation of the SCO UNIX along with DC-390's driver >
  1. Insert system diskette N1 to boot from floppy.
  2. When boot prompt is shown like the following:
                Boot
                :
Type the following command to proceed:
                link
  3. When the system asks for the name of the driver package, type
                tps.pkg
  4. The system would keep on booting from floppy N1 and then request to
have driver diskette inserted into floppy drive. Do this as requested.
After driver is successfully loaded, follow the normal procedures to
install the SCO UNIX. In the process of installation, driver diskette
may have to be inserted as instructed.

Once the system reboots with driver successfully installed, messages
similar to the following will be displayed:

   device address vector dma comment
