Remote BootROM (optional) ------------------------- RL100ATX-PCI adapter has a socket to support an option ROM. This option called bootrom allows the LAN adapter in the PC to remotely boots the PC from a network server. The BootROM support the following network operating system running on the server. 1) Novell NetWare v3.11, v3.12, v3.20, v4.1x, v5.0 2) Microsoft Windows NT server v3.51, v4.0 3) IBM LAN Server v3.x, v4.0 4) Microsoft LAN Manager v3.0 The BootROM has several features to customized the boot process. o - if the BootROM is installed the first time, it will prompt the following message: First time installation. Please select a default boot option. 1) Boot from a network server 2) Boot from local hard disk. Select (1) it will attempt to boot from a network server. Select (2) it will skip the ROM and boot from a local hard disk the usual way. If you decide to boot from a network sserver later, you need to run the utility RESET.EXE from the provide driver disk to reset the ROM action. Once reset, it will revert back to first time installation mode. o - If remote boot is selected, press the hot-key "CTL-ENTER" when the screen display "Configuring..." The boot protocol menu will appear. Select the default boot protocol. 1) Novell NetWare RPL boot 2) Microsoft Windows/LAN Manager RPL boot 3) IBM LAN Server RPL boot Select the appropriate network server you want the ROM to boot from. Next it will prompt if you want which message to display. "Configuring.... (press "H" key to boot from hard disk)..." or just plain, "Configuring.... " If you have a bootable local hard disk, you may want to boot at time, then select the earlier message to remind you. If not select the later message. The selection once saved will contiune do as selected until the it is change or reset. Refer to the network OS manual for details. The process require the user to have good networking knowledge and experience to do it. You may want to consult your dealer or reseller for help. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
