Run this when you are updating to a newer drivers. Windows 95/98 provides a complete "Plug n' Play" System that will automatically recognize and configure most PC Cards. Before inserting your Compex LinkPort/TX16 PCMCIA Card, the system's PCMCIA chipset must be enabled and functioning. The PCMCIA chipset is responsible for controlling the systems interface for PC Cards. Please consult the system's manual or manufacture for use with Windows 95/98. Please resolve all system conflicts, errors, and Windows 95/98 issues before installing the Compex LinkPort/TX16 PCMCIA card. Please have the installation media for the Windows 95/98 ready for any request for files. Getting Started ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ With the system off, remove all PC Cards Windows 95 Setup ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ There are currently two versions of Windows 95: - the original release (version A) - a later release (also known as OSR2, or version B) The installation procedure for the network driver will vary slightly depending on the version of Windows 95 that you are using. Windows 95 Version B (or OSR2) Setup ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ (1) Start up your computer. After Windows 95 is up and running, put the driver disk of PCMCIA Fast Ethernet into drive A:. (2) Insert PCMCIA Fast Ethernet Card into PCMCIA slot. (3) When the Device Driver Wizard window appears, click the "Next" button. Windows 95 will automatically check the disk that is in the floppy drive for the PCMCIA Fast Ethernet Card network drivers. (4) When the Fast Ethernet PC Card message appears, click "Finish" button. Windows 95 will begin copying files. (5) You may be asked to supply your original Windows 95 CD-ROM. (6) Type in the path name A:\ and click OK. (7) Complete the Window 95 PCMCIA installation procedures and go to Control Panel and select the "network" icon. (8) Add the Client, Protocol or Services you needed. (9) Restart the Windows 95 system. Windows 95 Version A Setup ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ (1) Start up your computer. After Windows 95 is up and running, put the driver disk of PCMCIA Fast Ethernet into drive A:. (2) Insert PCMCIA Fast Ethernet Card into PCMCIA slot. (3) In Windows 95 "New Hardware Found" dialog box, select "Driver from disk prodived by hardware manufacturer". (4) Type in the path name A:\ and click OK. (5) Complete the Window 95 PCMCIA installation procedures and go to Control Panel and select the "network" icon. (6) Add the Client, Protocol or Services you needed. (7) Restart the Windows 95 system. B) Uninstall LinkPort\TX16 Windows 95 driver ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ After the first successfully installation for LinkPort\TX16 adapter, if for any reason you removed the network adapter entry in Network applet in Control Panel, and do a reinstallation of the adapter, you do not need to insert the driver disk again. Windows will be automatically detected the adapter and install the driver after the first installation. For this reason if there is a update driver, you have to uninstall the adapter driver from Windows first before new driver can be installed. To uninstall the adapter driver files do the following, 1) First run UN95TX16.bat to remove the driver. i) From Windows goto DOS prompt and run UN95TX16.bat from the disk \WIN95 directory or copy to local harddisk C:\ and run it. e.g., A:\WIN95\UN95TX16 or C:\UN95TX16 ii) To proceed to remove the drivers, press any key to continue. If you changed you mind, press CTRL-C to abort. 2) Then goto Control Panel | Network applet| to remove the adapter from the network list. 3) Answer YES to restart Windows. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
