The instructions below describe real mode (NDIS2) and DOS ODI driver
installation only.
For Enhanced mode (NDIS3) driver installation, use A:\WFW311 directory.
See A:\WFW311\WFW311.TXT for instructions.
Install using NDIS2 driver in Windows For Workgroups 3.11
ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ
(1) Run INSTALL from the Compex driver disk provided.
The enabler software will be copied to C:\TX16DIAG
Select QUIT to exit the installation of drivers.
Network support for Windows must be install from Windows itself.
(2) Reboot the PC with the PCMCIA Ethernet Card in the PCMCIA slot
The enabler software will load and configure the adapter.
(3) Start Microsoft Windows for Workgroup 3.11
(4) Select "Network Setup" from Program Group "Network"
(5) Select "Drivers..."
(6) Select "Add Adapter..."
(7) Select "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter"
(8) Insert Installation driver diskette into drive A: and enter the path
name A:\NDIS2
OR
If you have run INSTALL.BAT from LinkPort driver disk, then enter
C:\Network\NDIS2 instead.
(9) Select "Compex LinkPort/TX 10/100 PCMCIA (Real mode) NDIS2 Driver"
(10) Select "SETUP" and change the interrupt (IRQ) number and base I/O port
address. This must match to the assignment set for the card with the
enabler.
(10) Setup the correct networking support for Windows and file/printer
sharing options
(11) Restart the PC
(12) Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to add the command line below immediately
before the line "NET START"
.e.g,
C:\TX16DIAG\LANEN /IOP:320 /IRQ:11
C:\Windows\NET START
Change IOP and IRQ ans needed, if the settings conflict.
Any changes made to this line you must also change in Windows
network setup.
Install using DOS ODI driver in Windows For Workgroups 3.11
ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ
a) Install NetWare Client for DOS support to local drive C
NetWare Client will install all files to C:\NWCLIENT by default.
If you install DOS ODI (NETX) from driver disk provided, the
files are copied to C:\NETWORK\DOSODI.
The description below use C:\Network\DOSODI. Change to your directory
name if different.
b) Edit AUTOEXEC.BAT and add the following lines;
Path = C:\Network\DOSODI;%PATH%
C:\Network\DOSODI\LSL
C:\Network\DOSODI\CLPTX16
C:\Network\DOSODI\IPXODI
c) Start Windows For Workgroups 3.11.
d) In the Network folder, choose the Network Setup icon.
e) In the Network Setup dialog box, choose the DRIVERS button.
f) The Network Drivers box appears. Choose the ADD ADAPTER
button.
g) The Add Network Adapter box appears. From the list of network
adapters, select Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter.
h) The Install Driver box appears.
Insert driver diskette into floppy drive and type the path to
the driver.
eg. A:\DOSODI <enter>
If you have run INSTALL.BAT from the the driver disk, the driver
will have been copied to the local hard disk. Then enter,
C:\Network\DOSODI
i) In the Network Drivers dialog box chose,
'Compex LinlPort/TX16 10/100 PCMCIA (DOS ODI) Driver"
Choose the CLOSE button to accept selection.
(j) Select "SETUP" and change the interrupt (IRQ) number and base I/O
port address. This must match to the assignment set for the card
with the enabler.
k) Back to the Network Setup box, Choose the OK button to save.
l) Windows will continue and copy the necessary files to the local
drive C:\Windows directory.
m) When prompt for the NET.CFG file path, enter C:\NWCLIENT
OR
If you have run INSTALL.BAT from the the driver disk, the driver
will have been copied to the local hard disk. Then enter,
C:\Network\DOSODI
n) When completed, you will be prompted to Restart Computer.
Remove the distribution disk from drive A and press Enter to
restart computer.
o) Compex LinkPort/TX16 10/100 PCMCIA adapter is now ready to operate.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
