 This directory contains Fast Ethernet DOS ODI driver CLPTX16.COM that
 supports NetWare 3.x, 4.xx, NetWare Lite and other ODI interface applications.

 The instruction steps below shows how to install and connect to a Novell
 NetWare server.

 DOS ODI Driver :

 1.   Things You Need
      ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
      Before you start with the installation process make sure you have
      one of the following :

         For NETX client installation, you need,
           a) Compex LinkPort/TX16 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter
           b) This Compex LinkPort/TX16 driver disk

         For VLM client installation, you need,
           a) Compex LinkPort/TX16 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter
           b) Novell NetWare Client diskette.

      NetWare Client support comes with NetWare Operating System.
      See Novell instructions on how to create these diskette.

      For NETX client installation, goto step (2).
      For VLM client installation, goto step (3)

 2.   NETX Client Installation
      ------------------------
      a) Insert the Compex driver disk in drive A and run INSTALL.
      b) Enter 1 for NetWare (NETX) ODI Driver installation.
      c) A directory, NETWORK\DOSODI will be created in drive C and the
         necessary files copied into it.
      d) When completed, manually add this line in CONFIG.SYS file,

              DEVICE=C:\TX16DIAG\LANEN.EXE /IOP:320 IRQ:11

         Note:- the value in /IOP and /IRQ maybe required to change if
                they conflict with another device in your machine.
                Edit the NET.CFG file if you make any changes to the
                Port address and IRQ number.

      e) The default frame type is Ethernet_802.2
         If you wish to change to another frame type,
         edit the NET.CFG file in the Network directory and save.
         e.g. below show Ethernet_802.3 is selected.

                LINK DRIVER CLPTX16
                    port 320
                    int 11
                    Frame Ethernet_802.3

      f) Reboot the system, Run C:\Network\STARTNET to connected to a
         NetWare server.


 3.   VLM Client Installation.
      ------------------------
      a) To install VLM client, run INSTALL from Novell NetWare Client disk 1.
         Follow the screen instructions.

         When asked for PORT address and INT, enter a value that do NOT
         conflict your Card and Socket software in CONFIG.SYS.
         The card default is PORT=320 and INT=11

         Continue the following screen instruction till the installation is
         completed.

      b) When completed, manually add this line in CONFIG.SYS,

                DEVICE=C:\NWCLIENT\LANEN.EXE /IOP:320 IRQ:11

         Note:- the value in /IOP and /IRQ maybe required to change if
                they conflict with another device.
                Edit the NET.CFG file if you make any changes to the
                Port address and IRQ number.


      c) Copy the file LANEN.EXE from the Compex driver disk to drive C
         NWCLIENT directory.
                 e.g.,
                      Copy A:\ENABLER\LANEN.EXE C:\NWCLIENT  <enter>

      d) Reboot the system, run C:\NWCLIENT\STARTNET to connected to a
         NetWare server.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
