Windows NT - Add ability of SynTPNab to stay resident to avoid a "problem code" in the registry. Controlled by registry value "StayResident". This would incorrectly report that the mouse driver had failed in the registry of Windows NT 4.0. Repaired an issue with delayed current user settings when attempting to log into a unavailable NT Domain server as a user with a roaming profile. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A03 - Version 5.0.23 (Release Date 07Jan99) (WinNT/Win95/98) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Features Multiple (2) floppy installation support. Separate configurability for corner zone drop-downs in the control panel. Disable the lower ones for a certain web product. Add support for additional types of TouchPads. Uninstallation support for Windows 95/98/NT4. Bug Fixes Fix scrolling in Adobe Acrobat plugin windows. Fix tray icon animation when TouchPads are hot unplugged with a finger on the pad. Fix a USB WheelMouse scrolling problem. Enable control of scrolling speed even if scrolling is turned on for pads that have a scrolling rocker switch. Fix drag-and-drop behavior in the Run Application dialog boxes. Tightened the validity check on WheelMouse packets to match the MS driver. This should prevent spurious packets from reaching the OS. NT: The SynI8042 driver is only installed on multi-processor machines, to avoid keyboard driver conflict problems (e.g. hangs after install). Workaround for a bug in Excel that causes it to crash when horizontal scrolling is done with panes frozen. Fixed greyed out left- and right-handed buttons after change back to the standard Microsoft driver. Intellimice that somehow get reset without the driver's cooperation or knowledge are now redetected and subsequently work. This fixes the intermittant problem with Intellimice after long usage that was reported. The NT driver's keyboard filter object now attaches over all keyboard ports (though only 0 is used)to fix a bug that occurs if SMS is installed (it creates a second keyboard port device, which must have the same number of layers as the first one or KBDCLASS will blue screen (documented Microsoft bug). Some version of SP3 NT seems to be disabling the i8042prt driver when our driver is installed. This may be related to SMS. Fix scrolling in Emacs. Remove detection of WheelMice on Phoenix H8 keyboard controllers since we don't support this. - Make the enhancements app system tray icon installation a bit more robust. - Add rocker switch action combo boxes for double-byte language dialog boxes. - Removed sensitive portions of rcs header from shipping inf files. - Update to half/new DDK for NT5.0 to fix a bug introduced by MS changing the mini-port interface. - Fix Win98 wheel mouse message support (fixes IE4.0 bug) - Rebase SynTPAPI.dll and SynTPFcs.dll to avoid conflict with DVD driver. - Fixed bug in edge finder while dragging. - Minor improvements to INF files and the CoInstaller. - Added support for Synaptics T1004 Combo TouchPads. - Added stroke suppression to PalmCheck, in addition to the tap suppression that was already in place. - Grayed out the "left hand/ right hand" button swapping control on the standard Microsoft "Buttons" page in the Mouse Properties dialog. - Added code to prevent users from turning off all left button actions. For example, you cannot disable taps unless one physical button is mapped to the left button action. And you cannot map all physical buttons to non-left button actions unless taps are enabled. - Added drag and drop support to the configuration dialog for the "Run any program" Plug-In. Updated the "Run a program..." Plug-In to set the current working directory to the location of the program to be run. - Tied the rocker switch scrolling speed to the virtual scrolling speed slider. - Added support for the MultiKey 3434 H8 keyboard controller. - Added the "TipAltFile" registry setting which specifies an alternate file to open when "Tell me more..." is selected from the tip dialog. - Added the PlugInScrollDelay registry setting which specifies the number of milliseconds a rocker switch must be held down before the scroll action begins to autorepeat. - Fixed a bug in the Windows 95 installation routine that was temporarily disabling serial mice that happened to be present during the installation. - Wheel mice were being reported as "Unknown Pointing Device" in the control panel device selection combo box. They are now reported as "Wheel Mouse". - Fixed a bug that was preventing the advanced PS/2 port setting on the "More Features" page from being changed using an external mouse. - The dialog box that says "Your computer is equipped with a Synaptics TouchPad" used to appear even if a TouchPad was not present. This behavior has been corrected. - The "Tell me more..." button on the splash screen used to bring up the Table of Contents/Index dialog for the Help file. It now brings up the "Overview" page with introductory information about the TouchPad. - Provided a workaround for a conflict with REALMagic DVD software. - Fixed a bug in the Windows NT driver that was causing extraneous scrolling action in some wheelmouse-aware applications. - Fixed a bug in the NT 4.0 driver that could have caused problems on multiprocessor machines. - Fixed a bug in the scrolling tutorial which affected low-speed scrolling. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 5.0.10 (Release Date 02Apr98) (Win95, WinNT) - A02 / Initial Release ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Improved the Japanese translations in the Help file and dialogs. - Added support for "up" and "down" buttons if present. - Added support for wheel mice. - Fixed a problem that was sometimes causing the installation program to crash when it was 90% complete. - Fixed a bug in the splash screen dialog that was preventing it from responding to keyboard input.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
