MINOLTA-QMS PostScript Driver for Windows XP/2000/NT4 Installation ============ The printer driver for Microsoft Windows XP/2000/NT4 supports all of your printer's features. This readme file lists the system requirements for the printer drivers and then describes how to install them from the Software Utilities CD-ROM and from disk. >> Note: If you require the printer drivers on disk instead of on CD-ROM, contact your MINOLTA-QMS vendor. You can also download the printer drivers via the World Wide Web at www.minolta-qms.com Initial Installation from CD-ROM -------------------------------- >> Note: If a MINOLTA-QMS PostScript Driver for Windows XP/2000/NT4 has been previously installed, you must use the "Re-installation" procedure, later in this file. 1 With Windows XP/2000/NT4 running, insert the Software Utilities CD-ROM in the appropriate drive on your workstation. The CD-ROM automatically boots. 2 In the Welcome dialog box, select Install Printer Utilities and Drivers. 3 Read the installation note and then choose Next>. 4 Select MINOLTA-QMS PostScript Driver for Windows XP/2000/NT4 and choose Next>. 5 Read the help screen for Microsoft's Add Printer Wizard, and choose Next>. 6 Follow the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard. 7 When you’re prompted to select a manufacturer and model [printer], choose Have Disk... 8 In the Install From Disk window, choose Browse... 9 Change to the x\PLATFORM\WINDOWS XP, 2000 & NT 4 directory, where x is the drive in which you installed the CD-ROM in step 1. MinQMS.inf displays in the File Name list. 10 With the MinQMS.inf file selected, choose OPEN to return to the Install from Disk window. 11 Choose OK. A list of MINOLTA-QMS printers displays in the Printers list. 12 Select the appropriate printer, and then continue following the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard to complete the installation. 13 When you're returned to the Printer Utilities Setup, continue to install other printer utilities or drivers, or choose Cancel to exit from the setup program. 14 Remove the CD-ROM, and store it in a safe place. Initial Installation from Disk ------------------------------ >> Note: If you want to be able to print to a CrownNet port, the CrownNet Print Utility for Windows must be installed on your Windows XP/2000/NT4 workstation or server, and a port must be created before continuing with this installation procedure. See the readme file in the \PLATFORM\WINDOWS\PRNTUTIL directory of the Software Utilities CD-ROM for details on installing and setting up this utility. >> Note: If a MINOLTA-QMS PostScript Driver for Windows XP/2000/NT4 has been previously installed, you must use the "Re-installation" procedure, later in this file. 1 With Windows XP/2000/NT4 running, insert the disk in the appropriate drive on your workstation. 2 In the Windows Start>Settings menu, choose Printers. 3 Choose Add Printer. The Add Printer wizard opens. 4 Choose Next>. 5 Follow the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard. 6 When you’re prompted to select a manufacturer and model [printer], choose Have Disk... 7 In the Install From Disk window, choose Browse... 8 Change to the appropriate directory on the disk, and choose OK. MinQMS.inf displays in the File Name list. 9 With the MinQMS.inf file selected, choose OPEN to return to the Install from Disk window. 10 Choose OK. A list of MINOLTA-QMS printers displays in the Printers list. 11 Select the appropriate printer, and then continue following the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard to complete the installation. 12 Remove the disk, and store it in a safe place. Re-installation --------------- If a MINOLTA-QMS PostScript Driver for Windows XP/2000/NT4 has been previously installed, you must use the following procedure to delete the files before installing a new printer driver. 1 From the Start menu choose Settings. 2 Choose Printers. 3 Delete the printer(s) you want to replace or upgrade. 4 Install the new printers using the "Initial Installation" procedure at the beginning of this file. 5 Reboot your workstation. Application Notes ============ N-UP PRINTING USING MICROSOFT WORD Selecting N-up printing from the Microsoft Word application may result in incorrect output. To avoid problems, choose N-up (Pages per Sheet) printing only in the printer driver and not in the Word application. On-Line Help ============ After installation, the driver features on-line help for tips and information on how to use each option in the driver. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
