NeoMagic NM5/6 Audio Driver INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

--------------------------

1.  Right-click on My Computers icon on the Desktop and click on Properties.


2.  Choose the Device Manager tab in the System Properties window.


3.  Double-Click on Sound, Videos and Game Controllers and double-click NeoMagic MagicMedia 256 Audio.


4.  Select the Drivers tab and click on Update Driver.


5.  Click Next in the Update Device Driver Wizard Window.


6.  Select Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver , and click Next.


7.  Click Have Disk... and click Browse and select the location where the files were extracted and click OK. 
    ** By default the files are extracted to the C:\Dell\Drivers\R... folder.**


8.  Highlight NeoMagic MagicMedia 256 Audio and click OK. 


9.  Choose Next to install the driver. The software will be installed for your device.


10. Click Finish.


11. At the next two windows, click Close and restart your computer to reconfigure your hardware.





TO INSTALL SOUND BLASTER EMULATION FOR MSDOS BASED GAMES:

(NOTE: THIS DRIVER USES ADDITIONAL RESOURCES THAT CAN BE FREED UP BY UNINSTALLING WHEN FINISHED USING IT.)

1. Right click on My Computer, then click on Properties. 


2. Click on the Device Manager tab. 


3. Double click on Sound, video and game controllers. 


4. Double click on NeoMagic MagicMedia 256 Audio. 


5. Click on the Settings tab check the Enable Sound Blaster Emulation box. 


6. Restart computer. 



(NOTE: TO UNINSTALL SOUND BLASTER EMULATION FOLLOW STEPS 1-4 ABOVE, THEN IN STEP 5, UNCHECK THE Enable Sound Blaster Emulation BOX AND RESTART SYSTEM.)

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
