Use Broadway MPEG files in presentations, computer-based training, CD titles, web pages, games, and video CDs. Broadway also supports output to videotape and conversion of video files to streaming video formats for web pages. ABOUT BROADWAY VERSIONS AND THIS RELEASE There are different versions of Broadway. Your version may or may not include all of the components and features referred to in the Broadway documentation. Select About Broadway from the Help menu to see the version numbers for your Broadway board, drivers, and application. This release includes Broadway 2.53 drivers, application and online help, instructions for installing this update, and release notes. It supports the features listed here. In addition, problems with previous versions of Broadway are fixed in this version. For MPEG capture or output to videotape, you need a 133 MHz or faster processor. INSTALLATION To install the update, double-click the file Bway2_5_1u.hlp and follow the instructions. SUPPORT AND PROBLEM REPORTING Known issues with version 2.5.1 are documented in the Release Notes included with your Broadway update. The release notes are also available on the technical support page of the Broadway web site (http://www.b-way.com/tech/tech.htm). For additional support and problem reporting, see "Contacting Data Translation" in the online help. DRIVERS AND RELATED FILES For Windows 95, driver files are installed in the \windows\system folder. For Windows NT 4, driver files are in the \winnt\system32 folder. The files installed are: bw10.dll - Codec bwdlgs.dll - Capture dialogs bwdelete.exe - Windows 95 update tool bwremove.exe - Windows 95 update tool recode.dll - Compression driver vtaccess.dll - Hardware access vtool.drv - Windows 95 capture vtool16.dll - Windows 95 capture vtool32.dll - Windows 95 and NT capture vtoold.vxd - Windows 95 driver vtoolhw.dll - Capture driver vtool.dll - Windows NT capture vtool.sys - Windows NT driver Driver files are also installed in a subfolder called \bwtables, located in: \windows\system folder for Windows 95 \winnt\system32 folder for Windows NT 4 These are various files required for the operation of Broadway. The total number of files copied during installation is 37 for Windows 95, and 39 for Windows NT 4. APPLICATION AND RELATED FILES The application update contains setup.exe and all the installation files that are needed. Typical installation requires approximately 5 MB of disk space and installs the following files in the Broadway folder: broadway.exe - application broadway.hlp - help file broadway.gid - help search file broadway.fts - help search file broadway.cnt - help contents file delsl1.isu - uninstall file DoNotDeleteBitmap.avi - MPEG capture bitmap Broadway.prf - default Broadway settings file (6) .dll files - for application and online help Typical also installs streaming video files. VDOLive files are installed in the vdotools folder. Custom installation requires up to 5 MB of disk space. It allows you to choose which files to install. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
