  Introduction
  ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
       This installation assumes that the PCMCIA drivers are working
       properly. Getting Started will describe the installation for Banyan.

  Getting Started
  ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
       There are two methods of copying files from the Banyan VINES
       workstation to the bootable diskette or subdirectory on the hard
       disk.

       Method 1:
          Execute the 'INSTALL' command included in the diskette labeled
           "VINES MASTER DISK".
          Follow the given instructions for copying files.

       Method 2:
          Execute the 'BAN' command.
          Login to VINES system.
          Execute the 'PCCOPY' command.
          Select the 'NDIS Ethernet' option and follow the instructions
           for copying files.
          Insert the driver program diskette in Drive A and the prepared
           bootable diskette in Drive B. Then, copy the appropriate NDIS
           driver file LMNDIS.DOS from Drive A to Drive B or to the
           subdirectory of the hard disk.
          Create a CONFIG.SYS file with the following statements:

       DEVICE=PROTMAN.DOS /I:A:\
       DEVICE=LMNDIS.DOS

       NOTE: A:\ is the path where Banyan VINES workstation files
              reside.

          Create a LMNDIS.NIF file containing the following statements:

       Model           = PCMCIA 10/100 Fast Ethernet + 56K Fax/Modem PC Card
       Path            = ETHERNET\LMNDIS
       DeviceDriver    = LMNDIS.DOS
       DeviceName      = LMNDIS$
       Type            = NDIS
       XPorts          = NETBEUI

       NOTE: A:\ is the path where Banyan VINES workstation files
              reside.

        Create a PROTOCOL.INI file with the following lines:

             [PROTOCOL MANAGER]
             drivername = PROTMAN$

             [VINES_XIF]
             drivername = NDISBAN$
             bindings = LMNDIS_NIF

             [LMNDIS_NIF]
             drivername = LMNDIS$

       Execute the 'PCCONFIG' command.

             A "CONFIGURING A PC FOR THE NETWORK" message appears on the
             screen. The program then provides some options you can select.

       Select "1 - Network Card Settings".

             Another screen appears for selecting some options.

       Select "NDIS Ethernet".

       Select the appropriate configuration of the adapter.

       After configuring the adapter, you return to the main screen.

             Select "2 - Login Environment Settings".

       From the next screen, select "NDIS Ethernet".

             The 'PCCONFIG.DB' file will then be created.

       Reboot your computer.

       Login to VINES by executing the 'BAN' command.
