Installing Microsoft Bluetooth Support software drivers for Windows XP with SP1 Requirements: Windows XP with Service Pack 1 (SP1) Notes: The Bluetooth software on your HDD supports all language versions of Windows XP. This support is already installed if you are using the preloaded operating system. These instructions are for use in case of a reinstall or clean install of Windows XP only. Instructions: A user with administrator or owner authority should perform the following steps. 1. Copy the contents of c:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\MSBTH to a network drive or removable media, such as a CD-R/RW. 2. Install Windows XP and SP1. 3. Follow the manufacturers instructions for attaching or powering on your Bluetooth option. Restart the system if directed. SEE NOTE 4. A new device is found and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" appears. 5. To install the USB Device: a. Click "Next." b. Click "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"; then click "Next." c. Click "Include this location in the search:" and type the path to the directories that you copied in step 1. d. Click "Next." The IBM Integrated Bluetooth II driver will be installed. e. Click "Finish." f. When prompted, select "Restart your system." (The installation will complete when the system is restarted.) NOTE For the IBM Integrated Bluetooth device which comes in some IBM ThinkPad systems, follow the steps below to turn on the Bluetooth radio. 1. Install the IBM ThinkPad Utilities and all other device drivers. 2. Press Fn + F5. 3. When the dialog box opens, turn on the Bluetooth radio. A new device is found. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
