The drivers contained in the directory NT_9X is for the following
Nortel PCI Ethernet adapter:

        Nortel BayStack 21 10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter

The drivers conform to the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS)
3.1/4.0/5.0 and are used with Microsoft Windows 95/98.

(A) Installing NDIS3 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows 95
============================================================

    1. Plug Nortel's BayStack 21 adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn the power ON and then boot into Windows 95.
    3. Windows 95 will prompt with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
       the "New Hardware Found" dialog box.
    4. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer"
       from the "New Hardware Found" dialog box, then click the OK button.
    5. Insert the Nortel BayStack 21 Driver CD in your CD-ROM drive.
    6. Enter the driver pathname, i.e. E:\, then click the OK button in
       the "Install from Disk" dialog box.
    7. Follow the screen's prompt to insert the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       and click the OK button in the "Insert Disk" dialog box.
    8. Otherwise enter the full pathname of the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       installation files in the "Copying Files..."  dialog box,
       then click the OK button.
    9. Windows 95 will copy the drivers from E:\NT_9X to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
       directory and the NETB21ND.INF file from E:\ to C:\WINDOWS\INF
       directory.
   10. Remove the Nortel BayStack 21 Driver CD from your CD-ROM drive.
   11. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 95
                O.S. is located.


(B) Installing NDIS4 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows 95 OSR2
=================================================================

    1. Plug Nortel's BayStack 21 adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn the power ON then boot into Windows 95.
    3. Windows 95 will prompt with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
       the "New Hardware Found" dialog box and "Update Device Driver
       Wizard" dialog box.
    4. Insert the Nortel BayStack 21 Driver CD in your CD-ROM drive.
    5. Click the "Next >" button in "Update Device Driver Wizard"
       dialog box.
    6. Windows 95 will prompt with "Nortel BayStack 21 10/100 PCI Ethernet
       Adapter" in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box.
    7. Click the "Finish" button in the "Update Device Driver Wizard"
       dialog box.
    8. Enter the full pathname E:\ of the NETB21ND.INF file, then
       click the OK button in the "Copying Files..." dialog box.
    9. Follow the screen's prompt to insert the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       and click the OK button in the "Insert Disk" dialog box.
   10. Otherwise enter the full pathname of the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       installation files in "Copying Files..." dialog box,
       and then click the OK button.
   11. Windows 95 will copy the drivers from E:\NT_9X to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
       directory and the NETB21ND.INF file from E:\ to C:\WINDOWS\INF
       directory.
   12. Remove the Nortel BayStack 21 Driver CD from your CD-ROM drive.
   13. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

(C) Installing NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 98
=================================================================

    1. Plug Nortel's BayStack 21 adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn pthe ower ON, then boot from Windows 98.
    3. When Windows 98 prompts with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
       "New Hardware Found" dialog box, click the "Next" button.
    4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)"
       form the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the
       "Next" button.
    5. Insert the Nortel BayStack 21 Driver CD in your CD-ROM drive.
    6. Select "Specify a location" and type Path "E:\" in the
       "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the "Next" button.
    7. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
    8. Windows 98 will prompt with "Nortel BayStack 21 10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter"
       in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
    9. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then
       Windows 98 will copy the drivers from E:\NT_9X to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
       directory and the NETB21ND.INF file from E:\ to C:\WINDOWS\INF
       directory.
   10. When Windows prompts with "Nortel BayStack 21 10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter"
       in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the "Finsh" button.
   11. Remove the Nortel BayStack 21 Driver CD from your CD-ROM drive.
   12. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 98
                O.S. is located.


(D) Configuring NDIS3/4/5 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows 9X
====================================================================

    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window.
    3. Click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel window.
    4. Select the "Nortel BayStack 21 10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter" item
       from the "Network" dialog box, and then click the "Properties" 
       button.
    5. Click the "Advanced" button in the "Nortel BayStack 21 10/100 PCI
       Ethernet Adapter Properties" dialog box.
    6. Select the Line Speed value (Auto,100full,100half,10full,10half
        from the "Value" item, and then click the OK button in the
       "Nortel BayStack 21 10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter Properties" dialog box.
    7. Click the OK button in the "Network" dialog box.
    8. Restart your computer to initialize the new configuration.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
