This document contains general information, which is not included in the
DE-660 Ethernet PC Card USER'S GUIDE or onscreen instructions, for OS2
users regarding DE-660 PC Card installation.

This document contains information on the following topics:

1.0  Introduction
2.0    Hot-Swap
3.0   Installation Notes
      3.1. For NDIS.OS2 Driver
      3.2  For ODI.OS2 Driver

___________________________________________________________________

1.0  Introduction
-----------------
    The DE-660 is designed to work with the OS/2 v2.1 or above which
    supports the PCMCIA Card Services. Note the PCMCIA Card Services,
    named PCMCIA.SYS, for OS/2 should be added to your CONFIG.SYS file.

2.0 Hot-Swap
------------

   The NDIS OS/2 driver supports the On-Line Hot-Swap function which
   allows the DE-660 PC Card to be removed and re-inserted without
   reloading the driver.

   IBM OS/2 Swap, DSCD.OS2 and DSCDOPEN.OS2 are Client Drivers.
   which work together with the ODI OS/2 driver in a Netware
   environment.

 3.0  Installation Notes
 -----------------------

    3.1. For NDIS.OS2 Driver

    OS/2 v3.0 Warp Installation
    ---------------------------
    Follow the steps:
    Step1
    Install OS/2 v3.0 Warp

            The following is an example CONFIG.SYS file which will be
            created after the OS/2 v3.0 Warp is installed.

                   *** Example CONFIG.SYS file ***
            -------------------------------------------
                                .
                                .
                BASEDEV=PCMCIA.SYS              ------- Card Services
                DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VPCMCIA.SYS
                                .
                                .
                BASEDEV=IBM2SS01.SYS /s0=2      ------- Socket Services
                                .

    Step2
    Restart your computer.

    Step 3
    Please refer to \NDIS\LANSRV.TXT file to install DE-660 PC Card driver

    3.2   For ODI.OS2 Driver
    ------------------------

    3.2.1 For IBM Thinkpads using OS/2 v2.x
    ---------------------------------------

    Follow the steps:
    Step 1
    Install IBM PC Card software into your system.

    Step 2
    Add DSCD.OS2 and DSCDOPEN.OS2 to the CONFIG.SYS file

           *** Example CONFIG.SYS file: (Thinkpad 750/750C)***
           ---------------------------------------------------
                   :
              DEVICE=C:\OS2\APM.SYS
                   :
              DEVICE=C:\OS2\PCMCIA.SYS
              DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VPCMCIA.SYS
                   :
              DEVICE=C:\path\DSCD.OS2      ----- D-Link Client Drivers
              DEVICE=C:\path\DSCDOPEN.OS2
                   :
              DEVICE=C:\THINKPAD\$ICPMOS2.SYS
              DEVICE=C:\THINKPAD\IBM2SS01.SYS /S0=2
              DEVICE=C:\THINKPAD\ICRMU01.SYS
                   :

    Step 3
    Restart your computer.
    Step 4
    Please refer to \NETWARE\OS2ODI.TXT file to install DE-660 PC CARD
    network driver.

           Please note:
           1. The parameters of DSCD.OS2 must match the parameters of
              ODI for OS/2 drivers,
           2. Insert DE-660 card before boot OS/2 system because OS/2 will
              load the client drivers and network driver when it brings up
              the system.
           3. The default driver parameters are I/O=300 and IRQ=11.

    3.2.2  OS/2 v3.0 Warp Installation
    ----------------------------------
    Follow the steps:

    Step 1
    Install OS/2 v3.0 Warp

    Step 2
    Edit CONFIG.SYS as follow.

               *** Example CONFIG.SYS file ***
           ----------------------------------------

    Please note:
    1. The parameters of DSCD.OS2 must match the ODI for OS/2 drivers,
    2. Insert DE-660 card before OS/2 system boots up because OS/2
       will load the client drivers and network driver upon reboot.
    3. The default driver parameters are I/O=300 and IRQ=11.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
