Note: For installation into a Windows 3.1(1) environment, we recommend
      you installing the "Cheyenne Bitware" software. This will install
      data/fax software for you to use and also auto-detect the modem.
      The software will then update you "WINDOWS.INI" files and your
      "SYSTEM.INI" files for you. It will also install a "Rockwell
      High-Speed Serial Device Driver" on your system. Any problems,
      please read the below instructions.

For installation into Windows 3.1(1) please do the following :-

(1) Copy the file RHSICOMM.DRV into the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory

(2) (a) Edit the file \WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI
    (b) Change the line COMM.DRV = COMM.DRV to
                        COMM.DRV = RHSICOMM.DRV
    This installs the Rockwell High Speed Modem Driver

(3) (a) Change to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory
    (b) Rename the file MODEM.INF to MODEM.OLD
    (c) Copy the file for A:\WIN311\AUSLX311.INF to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
        directory
    (d) Rename the file AUSLX311.INF to MODEM.INF

(4) Quit, then restart WINDOWS. Your system wil now be installed with a high
    speed serial driver. The new MODEM.INF file allows you to have exteneded
    respone strings.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
