Trident 4dwave NX/DX Installation Instructions / Rev A / 7/18/2002

The following instructions are for Windows 95/98. 
Procedure will be similar in other operating systems.
Please read through the entire readme file before installing driver.

A)General Notes:
======================
1) Unzip the archive, which you have already done, into a folder/directory.
	- Remember the folder location.
2) Make sure the old version of the 4dwave driver is removed.
	- Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager
	- Sound, video, and game controllers
	- Find "Trident 4dwave(NX/DX) PCI Audio
	- Click on "Remove"
	- OK / Close Window
	- Reboot computer
3) After computer reboots, Windows will detect new hardware and will prompt for drivers.
4) Windows may ask for the Trident 4dwave Install CD. This is refering to the drivers you downloaded.

Driver Installation:
======================
1) After rebooting, Windows will detect 3 devices related to the 4dwave.
	- These devices will be listed as "Unknown Device"
	- But will be ID'd by Windows to be either:
		"PCI multimedia Device" also "Trident 4dwave PCI Audio"
		"Trident Legacy Audio
		"Trident Direct Input Driver"
2) For each device, Windows will ask the location of the driver.
3) Either click "Browse" or manually type in the location of the downloaded driver.
	- i.e. "c:\4dwave"

Specific Notes for:
======================
1) "PCI Multimedia Device" or "Trident 4dwave PCI Audio"
	- This device looks for the following file: "triaudio.inf"
2) "Trident Direct Input Driver"
	- This device looks for the following file: "tridinpt.inf"

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
