            WINDOWS 2000 MINIPORT DRIVER
            UPGRADE AND INSTALLATION GUIDE

(1)UPGRADE GUIDE FOR SFA110A with the MX98715 CHIPSETS
[note]
The SOHOware 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI adapter (with the MX98715AEC 
chipsets) will be auto-detected and auto-installed as the "Macronix 
MX98715 Family Fast Ethernet Adapter (ACPI)" by Windows 2000. Please 
follow the procedure below to upgrade your driver.

    1. Click "Start/Settings/Network and Dial-up Connections". The 
       Network and Dial-up Connections window will open.
      
    2. Right-click "Local Area Connection". Click Properties, and the 
       Local Area Connection Properties screen will open.

    3. Click Configure. The Macronix Adapter Properties screen will 
       open. Select Driver tap, and click Update Driver. The Upgrade 
       Device Driver Wizard window will open. Click Next.

    4. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device and click 
       Next.

    5. Insert the SOHOware Driver Diskette into your floppy drive. 
       Check the "Floppy disk drive", uncheck the "Specify a location" 
       and click Next.

    6. If the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard find the driver  
       "a:\win2k\net7xx.inf" for the adapter. Click Next and go to 
       step 9; If not, check "install one of the other drivers". Then 
       click Next.

    7. In the "Driver Files Found" window , select "SOHOware 10/100 
       PCI Network Adapter(ACPI)" which location is "a:\netfent5.inf". 
       Then click Next.

    8. Then the "Digital Signature not Found" alarm message will be 
       prompted. You can click YES to ignore it.

    9. Click Finish to complete the Upgrade process and close the 
       Wizard. The driver is upgraded now.

(2)INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR SFA110A with the MX98713 CHIPSETS
[note]
The SOHOware 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI adapter (with the MX98713 
chipsets) will not be auto-installed by Windows 2000.Please follow 
the procedure below to install your driver.

    1. Plug the NIC into your PC and reboot it, the Windows 2000 
       system will auto-detect it. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" 
       window will prompt and you just click Next to begin the 
       installation procedure.

    2. In the "Install Hardware Device Drivers" window, please check 
       if the system find the "Ethernet Controller". And then check 
       the "Search for a suitable driver for my device [Recommended]" 
       option. Click Next.

    3. In the "Locate Driver Files" window, check the "Floppy disk 
       drive",uncheck the "Specify a location", insert the SOHOware 
       Driver Diskette into your floppy drive and then click Next.

    4. In the "Driver Files Search Results" window, check "install 
       one of the other drivers". Then click next.

    5. In the "Driver Files Found" window , select "SOHOware 10/100 
       PCI Network Adapter(Non-ACPI)" which location is 
       "a:\netfent5.inf". Then click next.

    6. Then the "Digital Signature not Found" alarm message will be 
       prompted. You can click YES to ignore it.

    7. You can now get into the Local Area Connection Properties for
       installing the services and protocols you needed.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
