Server Driver for NetWare 3.12

Introduction:
-------------
This document describes the procedure to install the NetWare V3.12
server driver for LG LNIC-10/100A Series Fast E-NET Card.

Location of Driver: \NWSERVER\312\LNICND.LAN

Installation Procedure:
-----------------------
Before you start with the installation process, make sure that
the Novell NetWare V3.12 server is properly installed.
Similarly, your adapter should also be properly installed in your
server.

1. Make a sub-directory NLMS.OLD under <SRVPATH> directory which
   includes SERVER.EXE.

   Ex. <SRVPATH> = SRV312.
       >MD \SRV312\NLMS.OLD

2. Save NBI.NLM, MSM.NLM and ETHERTSM.NLM to NLMS.OLD
   sub-directory.

3. Insert driver diskette into floppy disk drive.

4. Copy all provided NLM and LAN files into your dos directory
which includes SERVER.EXE, and rename NBI31X.NLM and MSM31X.NLM:

   Ex. >COPY A:\NWSERVER\312\NBI31X.NLM C:\SRV312\NBI.NLM
       >COPY A:\NWSERVER\312\MSM31X.NLM C:\SRV312\MSM.NLM
       >COPY A:\NWSERVER\312\ETHERTSM.NLM C:\SRV312
       >COPY A:\NWSERVER\312\LNICND.LAN C:\SRV312

5. Start the NetWare Server.

   > CD \SRV312
   > SERVER

6. From the Novell Server side, execute "LOAD INSTALL". Type:

      LOAD INSTALL

   Select <System Options>
   Select <Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF File>

7. Add the following commands into the server's AUTOEXEC.NCF file.

   LOAD C:\SRV312\NBI.NLM
   LOAD C:\SRV312\MSM.NLM
   LOAD C:\SRV312\ETHERTSM.NLM

   LOAD C:\SRV312\LNICND SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_802.3 NAME=LNICND_1_E83
   BIND IPX LNICND_1_E83 NET=1111

   LOAD C:\SRV312\LNICND SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 NAME=LNICND_1_E82
   BIND IPX LNICND_1_E82 NET=1113

   LOAD C:\SRV312\LNICND SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_SNAP NAME=LNICND_1_ESP
   BIND IPX LNICND_1_ESP NET=1115

   LOAD C:\SRV312\LNICND SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_II NAME=LNICND_1_EII
   BIND IPX LNICND_1_EII NET=1117

Note: The SLOT parameter should be set as the number of the PCI
slot on which LNIC-10/100A Series resides.

8. Restart the server again.

NOTES:
------
1. Installing Multiple LAN Adapters:

The keyword "SLOT" is provided for multiple LAN adapters in a
single server by the driver LNICND.LAN. So, add "SLOT" in LOAD
   commands. For example:

   LOAD LNICND SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 NAME=LAN_A
   BIND IPX TO LAN_A NET=111
   LOAD LNICND SLOT=2 FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 NAME=LAN_B
   BIND IPX TO LAN_B NET=222

2. Use keyword AUTO, 100FULL, 100HALF, 10FULL, 10HALF to specify the
media type of the LNIC-10/100A Series.

   For example:

   ; Specify AUTO-DETECT
   LOAD LNICND AUTO FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 NAME=LAN_A
   BIND IPX TO LAN_A NET=111

   ; Specify 100Mbps, Half-duplex
   LOAD LNICND 100HALF FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 NAME=LAN_A
   BIND IPX TO LAN_A NET=111

The default media type is auto-detect(i.e. none of these keywords
   is specified).

3. Installing One LAN adapter with Multiple Frame Types:

When binding multiple frame types to one adapter, enter a LOAD
and BIND statement for each frame type. Each LOAD statement will
use a different network number on the bind statement.
It is required to supply a name on each load line in order to avoid
being prompted for which board to bind IPX to. If you do not
have the name option in the AUTOEXEC.NCF, it will not execute
   completely without user intervention.

   Example:

   LOAD LNICND FRAME=ETHERNET_802.3 NAME=LNICND_1_E83
   BIND IPX TO LNICND_1_E83 NET=11111

   LOAD LNICND FRAME=ETHERNET_802.2 NAME=LNICND_1_E82
   BIND IPX TO LNICND_1_E82 NET=33333

   LOAD LNICND FRAME=ETHERNET_SNAP NAME=LNICND_1_ESP
   BIND IPX TO LNICND_1_ESP NET=55555

   LOAD LNICND FRAME=ETHERNET_II NAME=LNICND_1_EII
   BIND IPX TO LNICND_1_EII NET=77777

If problems occur during the binding process, your screen will prompt
you with error messages. Please refer to your NetWare 386 manual for
   details on these messages.

                                                               -- End --
