The setup program supports to register VIA chipset's functions in Windows 95 
and Windows 98.	These functions include host bridge, ISA bridge, USB and Power
Management.

1) System Requirements

   * This package should be installed on the VIA South Bridge chip,
     VT82C586B or later, and others' are not supported.

   * The "VIA Chipset Functions' Registry" supports the following Operation
     Systems.

    ** Installation Procedure **
    ****************************
    Change directory to 'setup'.
    Method 1: Run setup.exe and select "install VIA Chipset Functions' Registry",
    then it will automatically install this program. The viapmc.inf is copied 
    to Windows\inf.

    Method 2: Run "setup.exe -s -f1A:install.iss". then it will automatically 
    install this program and reboot the system. The 'A:' means that the 
    package is under 'A:.'. User can copy the installation package to any 
    folder and then replace 'A:' with the path.

    Method 3: Run "setup.exe -s -f1A:inoreset.iss", then it will automatically 
    install this program without rebooting the system. The 'A:' means that the 
    package is under 'A:.'. User can copy the installation package to any 
    folder and then replace 'A:' with the path.

4)  OPK
    The viapmc.inf in 'INF' subdirectory is used for OPK use.

5)  Package Version Identify
      You could check this distribuation version and release date by using 
    the DATE\TIME displayed by using "dir setup.exe" command, e.g :
    
      SETUP    EXE        59,392  05-24-99   1:06 SETUP.EXE

    The version number reads as 1:06, which was released on the date of 05/24/99.

6)  Verifying Installation of the Driver

      You could check "viapmc.inf" in Windows\inf directory. This version and
    release date by using the DATE\TIME displayed by using "dir viapmc.inf" 
    command, e.g :
	VIAPMC   INF           550  05-24-99   1:06 viapmc.inf

7)  Notes
      
      For OPK installation, the default descriptions of registry are not updated.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
