[Note]

    Some laptops might require patch files before installing
these type of cards and that you might have to setup your laptop
PC Card sockets properly either through the BIOS or specific
utilities, e.g. a third-party PCMCIA service software for NT,
provided by the laptop company.


    Third-party PCMCIA service software verified by NDC:

    1. SystemSoft CardWizard for NT4.0 v4.00.07




The Installation Procedure of NDC SOHOware PCMCIA/ND51XX-E for Windows NT3.51
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Plug the adapter (ND51XX) into an empty PCMCIA slot/socket.

2. Connect the network cable to the adapter.

3. Start up Windows NT3.51.

4. In the Main group, double click the Control Panel icon.

5. In the Control Panel group, double click the Network icon.

6. The Network Settings window will open.  Click the "Add Adapter" button.

7. In the Add Network Adapter window, select the "<Other> Requires disk
   from manufacturer" item from the list and click the "Continue" button.

8. Insert the "SOHOware PCMCIA/ND51XX" diskette into a floppy drive
   (e.g. A:) ==> Input the path (e.g. A:\WINNT\NT351) ==>Click "OK".

9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Installation
   procedure.  (Insert the Windows NT 3.51 diskettes or CD ROM as requested.

10. Reboot your computer to allow the above changes to take effect.




Installation Procedure of the NDC SOHOware PCMCIA/ND51XX-E in NT 4.0
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Insert the ND51XX PCMCIA card into a slot and boot up Windows NT 4.0.

2. Go to Control Panel in My Computer.  Double click the Network
   icon.

3. Select the "Adapter" tab in the Network box and click the "Add" button.

4. Click the "Have disk" button in the "Select Network Adpater" box.

5. Insert the ND51XX diskette into a floppy drive and input the driver
   path as:  A:\WINNT\NT40. Click "OK".

6. The screen will show "NDC ND5100 Ethernet PCMCIA LAN Adapter". Click
   "OK."

7. Choose an unused and suitable IRQ Level (3,4,5,9,10,12,15) and an
   unused I/O Port Address from (300, 320, 340, 360) for the ND51XX.
   And then click "OK".

8. Select 'PCMCIA' in the bus type box. Click "OK".

9. Click 'Close' on the 'Network' dialogue box.

10. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

11. Reboot the notebook to let the settings take effect.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
