Readme.txt Driver File Contents (5634pew_wMe.zip)

If you have previously installed a Smartlink ESS modem, please follow these instructions to update the driver.

Prepare a blank floppy disk, and unzip the 5634pew_wMe.zip to A:\.  (6 files should be extracted)

1. Run A:\UNINSTALL.EXE file to uninstall the modem driver, click Yes to confirm.
2. After uninstall the driver Reboot the System (eject the floppy before reboot).
3. Once entering Windows Desktop, Updating Hardware Information Database pops up, and the system will ask for the PCI Communication Device driver.
4. Insert the Modem driver back into the Floppy drive, use Recommend option then click Next to install the driver. The System will automatically search and install the proper driver from Floppy drive "A".  Click Finish.
5. Then system will ask for the Modem Device driver, use Recommend option then click Next to install the driver.  Press Finish

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
