How to install PCMCIA/IDE or Cardbus/IDE driver in Window 2000 environment?

1. For first time user:
   When inserting the pcmcia card with device, a "New Hardware Found" message will pop 
   up.  Select "Next" to continue installation.  
   Select "Display a list of known driver...." button and select "Next".
   In "select a Device Driver page", choose either "PCMCIA ATA/ATAPI Controler"
    that will install the default driver or select "Have Disk" to specify
    location.
   Enter path like "a:\" where the driver files are located.
   Select either "Interactive PCMCIA...." or "Interactive Cardbus....".
   Let Win2000 to finish the installation and that's it.

2. For those user that already have installed the driver but it is not working:
   Go to "Control Panel", "Device Manager", under "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller" folder,
   find the "Interactive PCMCIA...." yellow marked or "PCMCIA ATA/ATAPI Controller" 
   which may have been installed by using a default driver.
   Double click it, select "Driver" tab, select "Update Driver", select "Next" to
     continue.
   Select "Display a list of known driver...." button and select "Next".
   In "select a Device Driver page", choose either "PCMCIA ATA/ATAPI Controler"
    that will install the default driver or select "Have Disk" to specify
    location.
   Enter path like "a:\" where the drivers files are located.
   Select either "Interactive PCMCIA...." or "Interactive Cardbus....".
   Let Win2000 finish the installation and that's it.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
