   RedHat Linux Driver Installation Procedure

Installing AMB8110 for RedHat 6.1 Version
================================================
  1. Login as root.
 
  2. Copy amb8110.o into /lib/modules/2.2.12-20/pcmcia -
	"cp amb8110.o /lib/modules/2.2.12-20/pcmcia/amb8110.o"
     
     (Note: 2.2.12-20 is a kernel version, so it may be different from yours.)

  3. Use vi editor to append the following line into
     /etc/pcmcia/config -
	
	device "amb8110"
          class "network" module "amb8110"

	card "AmbiCom,Inc. Fast Ethernet PC Card(AMB8110)"
 	  version "AmbiCom,Inc.", "Fast Ethernet PC Card(AMB8110)"
  	  bind "amb8110"

  4. Restart the cardmgr -
	"/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart"

  5. Logoff root.

Installing AMB8110 for RedHat 6.0 Version
================================================
  1. Login as root.
 
  2. Copy amb8110.o into /lib/modules/2.2.5/pcmcia -
	"cp amb8110.o /lib/modules/2.2.5/pcmcia/amb8110.o"

     (Note: 2.2.5 is a kernel version, so it may be different from yours.)

  3. Use vi editor to append the following line into
     /etc/pcmcia/config -
	
	device "amb8110"
          class "network" module "amb8110"

	card "AmbiCom,Inc. Fast Ethernet PC Card(AMB8110)"
 	  version "AmbiCom,Inc.", "Fast Ethernet PC Card(AMB8110)"
  	  bind "amb8110"

  4. Restart the cardmgr -
	"/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart"

  5. Logoff root.

Note: Please make sure you have installed PCMCIA 3.0.9 or later
      before installing the AmbiCom Linux Driver.

Installing AMB8110 for RedHat 5.2 Version
================================================
  1. Login as root.
 
  2. Copy amb8110.o into /lib/modules/2.0.36/pcmcia -
	"cp amb8110.o /lib/modules/2.0.36/pcmcia/amb8110.o"

     (Note: 2.0.36 is a kernel version, so it may be different from yours.)

  3. Use vi editor to append the following line into
     /etc/pcmcia/config -
	
	device "amb8110"
          class "network" module "amb8110"

	card "AmbiCom,Inc. Fast Ethernet PC Card(AMB8110)"
 	  version "AmbiCom,Inc.", "Fast Ethernet PC Card(AMB8110)"
  	  bind "amb8110"

  4. Restart the cardmgr -
	"/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart"

  5. Logoff root.

Note: Please make sure you have installed PCMCIA 3.0.5 or later
      before installing the AmbiCom Linux Driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
