This floppy disk, containing 'DLMENU for DL9400/DL9300' (hereafter referred to in this document as DLMENU), allows you to easily change your printer's features directly from your computer display and keyboard in place of the printer's control panel. How to install and run DLMENU ============================= 1. Be sure to use the INSTALL program to install DLMENU to your hard disk. DLMENU will not run if you just copy all the files to hard disk. Change to the a: drive and just type "DLMENU\INSTALL" and press the ENTER key at the DOS prompt to install this program. 2. You need about 400 KB of free space on the target drive onto which DLMENU will be installed. The INSTALL program checks the availability of this space. If there is not enough space, the INSTALL program gives a warning message. If this happens, you should make space on the target drive or select another drive as the target in the INSTALL program. 3. The INSTALL will automatically add the DLMENU program path to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file if you select the option to do so. If you do not choose to have the installer update the autoexec.bat file and you want to run DLMENU from a directory other than the one in which it was installed, you should edit the PATH setting in autoexec.bat yourself, using a text editor and restart the computer. EXAMPLE: Original PATH line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\;C:\DOS Updated path will be like this PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\;C:\DOS;c:\DLMENU 4. To run DLMENU, go to the DLMENU directory first, and type DLMENU and press the ENTER key. If your PATH setting in autoexec.bat contains the path to the DLMENU directory, you just type DLMENU and press the ENTER key. Option switches =============== (words in [ ] are optional) To load DLMENU as a TSR in main memory and execute DLMENU. Option sets the hotkey combination used to popup DLMENU, the default hotkey is Ctrl+Alt+H. x can be any ASCII character. DLMENU /R[:Alt+x] or /R[:Ctrl+x], DLMENU /R[:Ctrl+Alt+x] or /R[:Alt+Ctrl+x] To load DLMENU as a TSR in memory and not execute DLMENU. DLMENU /L[:Alt+x] or /L[:Ctrl+x] DLMENU /L[:Ctrl+Alt+x] or /L[:Alt+Ctrl+x] To remove DLMENU from main memory at the DOS prompt. DLMENU /S To display color mode switch. DLMENU /M To send all settings to the printer. DLMENU /F:mysetup[.cfg] (mysetup.cfg is your setup file) To see the help screen. DLMENU /? TSR === Using the TSR, you can setup your printer without exiting from a DOS application. To load the TSR module in main memory, type; DLMENU /R Once loaded, it occupies in about 40KB of conventional memory. It can be run without exiting the DOS application by pressing; Ctrl+Alt+H (default pop-up hotkey) or the hotkey combination specified when DLMENU was run. The normal DLMENU start-up screen will appear and the program will function as normal. DLMENU first saves all the status, memory and screen information of the application to EMS memory if available, leaving about 510KB of free memory. Failing this, it saves it to about 1MB of free space on your hard disk. This storage is only temporary. You can return to your application by exiting from DLMENU. To remove the TSR module from memory type at the DOS prompt; DLMENU /S There are some notes about using DLMENU as a TSR. 1. Another program may already use the Ctrl+Alt+H key combination for some special function. In which case the key combination for DLMENU must be changed. To do so, type; DLMENU /R[:Alt+x] or DLMENU /R[:Ctrl+x] or DLMENU /R[:Alt+Ctrl+x] or DLMENU /R[:Ctrl+Alt+x] where x denotes the last key of the hotkey combination; x can be any ASCII character. (The program option switches are not case-sensitive) 2. Please load the TSR module of the DLMENU last, after loading all other TSR modules including PRINT.EXE. If you don't, the system may not function correctly. 3. Please avoid loading the TSR module of the DLMENU when you have temporarily exited to the DOS prompt from any DOS application. (the SYSTEM command in Lotus 1-2-3 for DOS, for example). If you do, the system may not work correctly. 4. If DLMENU was loaded as a TSR at the prompt and Windows3.x was run, you cannot popup the DLMENU in a windows3.x DOS prompt. If you would like to run DLMENU at the DOS prompt in Windows3.x, you must LOAD DLMENU AS A TSR IN THE WINDOWS3.x DOS PROMPT. Before you do this, please check the "Memory Options : EMS Memory Locked" check box in the Advanced options of the DOS prompts PIF (DOSPRMPT.PIF) by using the windows3.x PIF editor. 5. When DLMENU was loaded as TSR, "/F" option is not available. Just use the hotkey and Pop-up DLMENU. 6. When DLMENU is mode resident, you can't Upload printer information. Select "SEND" to make each setting value valid, cettainly. Status display ============== Following list shows meanings or solutions of the status display.
