You can find the model number right beneath the mouse on the adhesive or sculptured label. Conventions: DB-9P: stands for D-suB 9 pin Plug , e.g. Male connector. General description This mouse can emulate either the Microsoft mouse (2 buttons MS mode) or the Mouse System mouse (3 buttons PC mode). While turning on the computer without any button pressed , it will act as a Microsoft mouse ; otherwise, it will act as a Mouse System mouse. The innovative Mouse Driver can automatically recognize the exact mode without any soft command. And 10 additional resolutions provide you to adjust your favorite moving speed and accuracy. 2. System requirements (1) Computer : Compatible with IBM-PC/XT/AT and PS/2 models. (2) Disk : A 3.5" floppy disk drive. (3) DOS version : V3.0 and above. (4) Memory : above 256K RAM. (5) Mouse port : Serial mouse port: Com1 to Com4. (6) Adapter : optional DB-25S to DB-9P adapter. 3. Mode settings This mouse will set into Microsoft mouse mode while turning on the power of computer without any button pressed and hold. And vice versa ,it will set into Mouse System mouse mode while turning on the power of computer with any of the three buttons pressed and hold. If you are not sure about what mode you have set , you can run the MOUSE.EXE and TEST.EXE which contained in the Mouse Driver diskette at DOS prompt to check it out. The exact mode setting will be displayed on the test screen. 4. Installation (1) Before connecting this mouse, please turn off your computer first. (2) Directly plug the mouse cable to DB-9P serial port on the computer or use an optional DB-25S to DB-9P adapter to attach to a DB-25P serial port. (3a) As a Microsoft mouse, simply turn on the computer. (3b) As a Mouse System mouse, pressed and hold any button of the mouse and then turn on the computer. (4a) For DOS environment, run the INSTALL.EXE program from the Mouse Driver diskette to copy all the necessary files to your hard disk. It will modify the Autoexec.bat file as well in order to load the mouse driver automatically when you boot up the computer next time. For more details, please refer to DOS manual . (4b) For Windows 3.X environment, double click Windows Setup in the Main Group and choose either the "Microsoft, or PS/2" or "Mouse Sytems serial" as the System Default Mouse Driver. (4c) For Windows 95 environment, simply choose Standard Serial Port Mouse for the exact mode setting. (5) Restart or warm-booting computer to take the Driver setting into effect. 5. Supports Com1 and Com2, Com3, Com4 serial ports. You can choose any of them to install this mouse. And in DOS environment, the Mouse Driver (mouse.exe) has a default searching priority from PS/2 first and then Com1 to Com4. As long as the first one response to the mouse driver, the respective port will be considered as the system mouse port. Furthermore, you can still use the following soft command to override the searching priority in case of mixing-up chaos with other serial devices. Command format : MOUSE /n Where n starts from 1 to 4 which refers to Com1 to Com4, the serial communication port number where the mouse was installed. 6. Software resolution setting There are 10 grade of the resolutions in the Mouse Driver that can be changed to fit the accuracy and tracking speed with each application. The default is #=5 for 1:1 resolution, i.e. one count for one dot resolution. Command format : MOUSE /A# (where # = 0 - 9) 10 resolution settings: #=0 1/6 of the mouse hardware resolution #=1 1/5 of the mouse hardware resolution #=2 1/4 of the mouse hardware resolution #=3 1/3 of the mouse hardware resolution #=4 1/2 of the mouse hardware resolution #=5 1:1 the actual mouse hardware resolution #=6 2 times of the mouse hardware resolution #=7 4 times of the mouse hardware resolution #=8 8 times of the mouse hardware resolution #=9 10 times of the mouse hardware resolution 7. Remove from memory The Mouse Driver is a Terminated and Stay in Resident program. You can remove it by the following command to release memory . Before doing this , you should first remove other TSRs which loaded after the mouse driver. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
