Release note for the printer driver

This documents includes the information concerning the Printer Driver.

1.Coexistence with Novell Netware Client
When you install this Printer Driver into the PC which Novell Netware Client has been already installed, please do the installation from "Add Printer" not using Install.exe. In that case, specify this Printer Driver as the default. If you cannot print out correctly after installation, please check the port of properties and assign to the actual connected port (e.g.LPT1). In some cases, there is a possiblilty to assigned to network port automatically, in such case, please assigned again to the actual connected port (e.g.LPT1) in the properteis of the printer driver, even if it shows connected to LPT1.
If N-Up Printing does not work properly at printing, please delete the printer driver and reboot your PC, after that install again the printer driver.

2.Font resolution
In some applications (e.g. Microsoft Word), the Graphics Resolution affects the Fonts Resolution.Therefor, if it is hard to read the printed letters, please change the Graphics Resolution to High.

3.Graphics Resolution of Microsoft Excel
With this Printer Driver, if you print a file from Microsoft Excel, always select High as Graphics Resolution. This printer driver does not support Low or Medium of Graphics Resolution in Microsoft Excel.

4.Print from Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer.
If you print a file from Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer, some fonts or some graphics sometimes can not be printed correctly. In that case, please change the Graphic mode (e.g. Error Diffusion mode) and try it again.
Also please make sure you use the latest version of Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. Sometimes printing can not be done correctly depending on versions.

5.GL/2 printing
If you select GL/2 mode for Graphics mode, sometimes it takes a long time to print in case of complex files. Some graphics pattern also may not be able to be printed correctly. In that case, please select Raster mode and try it again.

6.Outline effect
This Printer Driver does not support 2-byte glyph handling feature, so some Font Effect (e.g."Outline" of Fonts Effect Function of Microsoft Word) will not work correctly. Therefore, if you select such kind of Font Effect (e.g."Outline"), some letters may not be output correctly.

7.Applications which do not support N-Up printing with this Printer Driver.
This Printer Driver has a printing function that puts 2pages or 4 pages of documents into 1 page with reduction (N-Up Printing). This function may not be implemented in some applications. For the following reason, the function can not be executed in Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe PhotoShop, Microsoft PowerPoint etc.
"this printer driver's N-Up feature is implemented in Windows 95 via a Windows Print Processor. The Windows Spooler calls the N-up Print Processor only when EMF mode printing is active and these applications switch to RAW mode printing by itself."

8.Soft fonts
On Windows3.1x, there is a possibility that the files of each font file will be copied into the following folder when adding the Fonts. "C:\Windows\System\sft"

9.Bitmap System Font
This Printer Driver does not support Downloading of Bitmap System Fonts. Therefore, if you try to use Bitmap System Fonts, they are substituted for the resident fonts installed in the Printer automatically. On account of this, the printing letters are sometimes not the same shapes as the letters on PC (e.g.Microsoft Access).

10.Print from PhotoShop
If you print a file from Adobe PhotoShop, some files can not be printed correctly (even if you start to print, the output is not executed). In that case, please change the Graphic mode or Halftone setting (e.g. GL/2, Error Diffusion mode or etc) and try it again.

11.Download macro
This printer dose not support download macro feature.

12.Timeout setting
This Printer Driver can set the value of "System-timeout" when data transmission between PC and Printer is stopped. The value can be set by the Time-out of Configuration Tab of the Printer Driver. 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 120, 180, 240 and 300 seconds are available, however, the value which is set actually is 10 times these value (e.g. if you specify 60 seconds, actually 600 seconds are set). If one of 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds is specified, 300 seconds will be used for the value of "System-timeout" automatically. This is because the default value set originally will be used, in these cases.
