Jan. 1996 DE-620 Ethernet Card Packet Driver Installation for PC-NFS ===================================== ***************************************************** * Packet Driver Program for Sun MicroSystems PC-NFS * ***************************************************** The PC-NFS Driver Program allows you to run Sun MicroSystems PC-NFS on a workstation with an Ethernet adapter. The following lists the files that will be used in the installation: Files Description ------------ ---------------------------------------------------------- PDNFS.SYS PC-NFS driver program DE620PD.SYS Packet driver program DE620PD.COM Packet driver program There are two methods of installing the driver. They are described below. METHOD 1: 1. Install the PC-NFS program according to the procedure described in the PC-NFS manual. From the installation screen, select "3C501" (the 3Com EtherLink adapter) as your network adapter. When prompted for the adapter configuration, select IRQ3 and I/O base address of 300H. 2. Copy the following files into the \NFS directory of your hard disk: PDNFS.SYS DE620PD.SYS DE620PD.COM 3. Modify your CONFIG.SYS file as follows: DEVICE=C:\ANSI.SYS DEVICE=C:\NFS\PCNFS.SYS /m DEVICE=C:\NFS\SOCKDRV.SYS DEVICE=C:\NFS\VECIE6.SYS DEVICE=C:\NFS\DE620PD.SYS <packet_int_no> DEVICE=C:\NFS\NFSVEC.SYS DEVICE=C:\NFS\PDNFS.SYS LASTDRIVE=V 4. Modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file as follows: SET PATH = C:\;C:\NFS SET TZ=EST5EDT SET NFSDRIVE=C NET YPDOMAIN ypserver NET START RDR NET YPSET homer NET NAME john NET USER F: \\user\john The name "john" here is only an example. 5. Reboot your system to start PC-NFS. You may now execute PC-NFS commands to communicate with other stations on the network through the TCP/IP protocol. METHOD 2: 1. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
