Overview

This is the release of the Windows 98 modem driver for the HPNA/v.90 combo card.


Identification

If you have an HPNA/v.90 Combo Card Driver for Modem and are running Windows 98, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  After you have downloaded and double-clicked the 7510894.exe file, the files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\7510894 folder.
 
2.  Close all open windows.

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7510894\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

4.  The Setup dialog box opens and the InstallShield Wizard prepares for installation.  

5.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

6.  A setup dialog box briefly displays that it is "Removing Existing Modem(s)."

7.  Files copy. 

8.  The New Hardware Found dialog box reports a PCI Modem.

9.  In the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box, verify that Specify the location of the driver (Advanced) is selected, and then click Next.

10.  In the next dialog box, verify that the Search for a better driver check box and the Specify a location check box are the only two check boxes selected, and then click Browse.

11.  In the Browse for Folder dialog box, double-click drive C, double-click Drivers, double-click the 7510894 folder, and then click OK.

12.  The Specify a location box lists C:\Cabs\7510894.  Click Next.  

13.  The Next Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box indicates that Windows has multiple software packages.  Under What would you like to install, select The updated software (Recommended), and the BCM V.90 56K Modem is listed.  Click Next.

14.  In the next dialog box, click Next.  Windows is ready to install the best driver.

15.  In the next dialog box, click Finish.  

16.  Windows finds other components of the modem to install and a Setup Complete dialog box opens.  Verify that the Yes, I want to restart my computer now check box is selected, and then click Finish.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.  

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select BCN V.90 56K Modem, and then click Add/Remove.

4.  The files automatically remove.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, perform these troubleshooting steps. 

1.  Follow the removal procedure, and then reinstall the drivers.

2.  Verify that all cable connections are securely connected.


Reason for Update

This is the initial driver release.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
