Installation Creatix V.9x DSP PCI 56k Data Fax Modem under Windows XP (4.67.3) ============================================================================== Installation Instructions: -------------------------- The driver can only be installed, if the PCI-Card is recognized as a new hardware, do not update existing drivers with the instruction “Update driver”. Existing drivers has to be de-installed. De-install the device at the device manager (Control panel – System). If there is a new operating system and no driver installed, the card should be detected automatically at the device manager (Control panel – System) under “Others / unknown components /devices” as “PCI Communication Device (simple)”. Installation under Windows XP: ------------------------------ 1. Unpack the driver (Disc, CD or Internet) into a temporary directory. 2. After installing the card and rebooting the PC, the card should be recognized as a new hardware -> PCI Communication Device (simple) and the hardware assistant will be started. 3. Choose “Install software from a list or from another source” (advanced user) and activate “Search for the best driver”. 4. At the point “Search also the following sources”, declare the directory in which you have unpacked the driver at the beginning. 5. You should find “Creatix V.9x DSP Data Fax Modem”. Finish the hardware assistant after copying the files with “Finish”. The modem should be available at the control panel under “Telephone- and Modem options” (printer and other hardware). Uninstallation under Winsow XP: ------------------------------- For uninstalling go to Control Panel – Software and delete the entry for the modem Creatix V9x DSP Data Fax Modem Uninstalling step-by-step if there are problems: 1. Delete the entry of the modem in the device manager (control panel – system – hardware): Creatix V9x DSP Data Fax Modem 2. Delete in the hidden directory \WINDOWS\INF the file oem*.inf (the * stand for a number, which describes the modem). The oem-files can be opened with a double click. The file looks in the beginning as follows: [version] Signature = $CHICAGO$” Class=Modem ClassGUID={4D36E96D-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Provider=%Oem% CatalogFile=CTXH51.CAT DriverVer=04/22/2004, 4.67.3 . . . 3. Control in the registration file (start – run – regedit) if the following entry is still existing (only this entry) and delete it. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
