2. RICOH GRANTS YOU THE NON-EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO USE THE SOFTWARE WITH THE
PRINTER UNIT LISTED IN THE "SUPPORTED MODELS" BELOW.
3. RICOH AND ITS LICENSORS PROVIDE THE SOFTWARE WITH NO WARRANTY OF
PERFORMANCE, RESULT AND SPECIFIC COMPATIBILITY ARISING FROM THE USE OF
THE SOFTWARE AND DEFECT LIABILITY.
4. YOU SHOULD NOT MODIFY, REMODEL, TRANSLATE, REVERSE-ENGINEER, DECOMPILE,
AND DISASSEMBLE THE SOFTWARE AND ANY RELATED DOCUMENTS.
5. IN NO EVENT SHALL MICROSOFT, RICOH, OR ITS LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR
DAMEGES (INCLUDING ANY FOR LOSS OF INFORMATION, PROFITS, SAVINGS OR
BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTIAL,
CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE OF THE USE
THEREOF, OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.
6. YOU SHALL ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE EXPORT OF THE SOFTWARE IS GOVERNED BY THE
EXPORT CONTROL LAWS OF JAPAN AND THE RELATED COUNTRIES. YOU SHALL AGREE

(I) Introduction

This file describes how to set up your printer driver and contains the most
up-to-date information that was available at the time of software release.
Please see the application notes section for details of known limitations.
For information on printer driver settings and features, please check the
Manual file.

(II) Supported Models

This driver supports the following models.

Please make sure "Operating Instructions - Printer Reference 1" Manual in
\HELP directory in this CD-ROM for the printer driver you should install
for your machine.

(III) Installation

The printer driver is provided on a CD-ROM. The procedures for installing and
uninstalling the driver are described below. If the previous version of the
driver has already been installed on your computer, then you must remove the
previous one before installing this driver.
i) Installing the printer driver in Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Insert the "Printer Drivers and Utilities" CD in your CD drive.
2. Close all applications.
3. (Windows 2000)
Open the "Printers" folder in the "Settings" in the "Start" menu.
(Windows XP/Server 2003)
Open the "Printers and Faxes" folder in the "Start" menu.
4. (Windows 2000)
Double click on "Add Printer" and follow the instructions.
(Windows XP/Server 2003)
Click on "Add a Printer" in "Printer Tasks" and follow the instructions.
When asked for the installation disk,
a) Select your CD drive.
b) Select the "DRIVERS" directory.
c) Select the "WIN2000_XP" directory.
d) Click "OK" and continue with the instructions.
ii) Uninstalling the printer driver from Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003

1. Close all applications.
2. (Windows 2000)
Open the "Printers" folder in the "Settings" in the "Start" menu.
(Windows XP/Server 2003)
Open the "Printers and Faxes" folder in the "Start" menu.
3. Select the printer you wish to uninstall.
4. Press "Delete" key.
iii) Special notes for Point-and-Print setup

* When installing Windows 9x alternative driver from Windows NT4.0/2000/XP
or Server 2003, Windows 9x may ask you to enter the path for the driver
files, or to select a printer model among a list of printers. In such
cases, you need to cancel the "Point and Print" installation and install
the printer driver locally.

(IV) Application notes and tips
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Please make sure "Collate" OFF in the application print dialog before
printing.
2. When set new nonstandard paper sizes in "Printer Server Properties",
please follow the rules below.
- Width : Set short edge size of nonstandard paper you want to make.
- Length : Set long edge size of nonstandard paper you want to make.
3. Some fonts placed behind some objects may print even though it is
invisible on PC screen. To avoid this, set "Print Optimizations" OFF
in "Advanced Options" setting.
4. When printing on nonstandard papers with MS WORD 97/98/2000 or 2002,
the image may be placed inappropriately.
5. When printing with MS Office XP applications, some grouped objects may
not be printed correctly. To avoid this, change the object setting
to ungroup.
6. (Windows 2000 only)
When printing MS Excel document, please make sure that "Collate" is OFF
both in the application print dialog and in the printer driver property.
7. (Type40 400 A/B only)
Any colored font is printed in black or white. It is subject to the font
size, the color and the resolution at the printing.

(V) Others

1. Sharing a printer:
When RPL printer driver of Windows9x/Me is shared on WindowsNT4.0/2000/XP,
and Server 2003, follow ARTICLE-ID:Q142667 of Microsoft Knowledge Base to
install a printer driver.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
