Intel(R) Display Driver with DirectX Release for Microsoft Windows* CE version 3.0

The build number of this release of the driver is: 1001

This driver requires the 3.0 release version of Microsoft Windows CE.

The five files included in the beta release are listed below.

	RELEASE.TXT (this file)
	DDI_igfx.DLL
	Video.REG
	FAQ.TXT
        License.txt

This driver was tested using the Intel(R) 810 CRB and the Intel(R) 815EEA motherboards. The processors used for testing were a 466 MHz Intel Celeron(R) processor and a 866 MHz Pentium III processor.

The driver was built using Microsoft Windows CE Platform Builder 3.0 with a CEPC MAXDX platform target. Settings described below are based on this IDE and platform target

Installation
-------------------

Follow these steps to install your driver. Where you see "installdir",
substitute the name of the directory where you installed Windows CE.

1. In Microsoft Windows CE Platform Builder 3.0, create or open a MAXDX platform project.

2. In Platform Builder ComponentView, remove the native ddi_*.dll component. This is typically ddi_vga8.dll or ddi_flat.dll

3. In Platform Builder ComponentView, insert user component. Browse to the directory where you extracted these files and choose the ddi_igfx.dll file.

4. In Platform Builder ComponentView, choose settings. Open the Environment tab. Enter a new variable ODO_NODISPLAY, assign a value of 1, and Set.

5. In Platform Builder ParameterView, open PROJECT.BIB. Insert the following:

	   ddi.dll $(_FLATRELEASEDIR)\ddi_igfx.dll NK SH

6. In Platform Builder ParameterView, open PROJECT.REG. Insert the contents of Video.REG.

7. You are now ready to build a platform.

Notes/Settings
--------------------

1) The registry entries are defaulted to work with 16 Bits per pixel and 800x600 at 60Hz mode.

2) The video.reg file entry "Bpp" can be set to 8 (0x08), 10 (0x10), or 18 (0x18) for 8, 16 or 24 bit modes depending on the amount of bits per pixel you desire.

3) The video.reg file entry "CxScreen" and "CyScreen" are used to set the resolution; entry must be in hex. (640x480 = CxScreen:280, CyScreen:1E0)

4) The video.reg file entry "DisplayDevice" setting are 0:CRT 1: Flat panel 2: Simultaneous 3: TV-Out. The maximum resolution supported by TV-Out is 800x600.

5) Only the following DVO devices are supported at this time: SiI154 and Chrontel 7008

6) All of the registry keys in the video.reg file must be set in order for the driver to work.

7) If you are using a TV-Out encoder ("DisplayDevice" is 3), please read the TVOut_readme.txt file for more details on this.

Known Issues
-------------------

The following issues are known issues with this graphics driver and are items that are currently being investigated.

1) Overly support is not functioning properly.

2) On MSTV 1.7, occasionally there are areas of the screen which will remain unpainted (black).

3) When playing Macromedia Flash files on an image with 16bpp support, the colors are not correct.

4) When setting the TV-out specific registry entries (indirectly programming the Chrontel(R) part) to a TvScaleStep value of between 66% and 100% while the resolution is set to 800X600 and the Chrontel(R) part is set to operate in PAL mode, there may be some noticable flickering in the output. This issue is currently being investigated by Intel. In the case whereby such flickering occurs solely on a Multi-Sync TV,it may be attributed to a known issue undisclosed by Chrontel(R). For more information on this, refer to http://www.chrontel.com/pdf/tb34.pdf.
