The file sato2050.exe is a self-extracting executable. Simply double click on the file from Windows Explorer and let it extract to the default directory of C:\enhanced. Once extracted you can continue with the downloading of the firmware instructions. To download firmware: Power printer off. Turn DSW2-6 on. On your PC goto Shutdown and shut down to MS-DOS mode. While the firmware is downloading and until the whole process is complete and the printer returns to a Download Waiting state, do NOT power the printer off. If power is lost during this process the firmware can become corrupt, causing the printer to become unusable. Power the printer on. It should put you in a download Waiting mode. On your PC go to your Start Menu, then Shutdown and shutdown to DOS. From the DOS prompt copy the start.mot file to the printer. Example: Parallel example: copy start.mot lpt1: Serial example: first type Mode com1:19200,n,8,1 (set printer's serial interface to the proper settings) copy start.mot com1: The printer should beep after receiving this file. From the DOS prompt copy the EG_2050.mot file to the printer. The printer should go into a Downloading mode. Do NOT power the printer off. Once the firmware has been downloaded the printer will display Download Complete, Press Feed. This whole process can take 7-10 minutes using the parallel port. Serial is at least 2x as long. After the download is complete, power the printer off and turn DSW2-6 off. To confirm that the firmware is downloaded and to reset the printer, do the following: Note: If DSW3-5 is in the down or off position you will need to transition the Print Start signal to get a test print out of the printer. If you are not connected to an applicator or external switch you will need to turn DSW3-5 on to get a test print out of the printer. Turn on DSW2-4 and power the printer on with the Line and Feed keys pressed in. When the printer beeps, let go of the Keys. Once the display comes up (DSW2-4 ON -> OFF) turn DSW2-4 off. Press the Feed key until you get to COUNTER CLEAR. Press the Line key until you get to ALL. Press the feed key, then select the size test label you want printed and press the feed key again. Press the feed key to stop printing. Verify that the firmware version is the following: xE2050 (x=1-5)Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
