           ITE ITE8211/8212 ATA/ATAPI RAID driver Installation
                             for Windows 98/ME/2K/XP


 
 I. Install Windows 2000, XP
 ___________________________________________________________________  

       1. Copy all files and directories of Driver Disc folder[X:\Intel chipset\PCI2IDE\ITE8211(or ITE8212)] to a floppy disk.
          
       2. Boot system from OS installing CD-ROM.
 
       3. Make sure the ITE8211(or ITE8212) BIOS is executed by the system BIOS when POST(You can Enable it by CMOS setting).
 
       4. Press "F6" when OS installer starts running.

       5. Insert floppy disk.

       6. Choose the OS device driver wanted for loading.

       7. Install OS.

       8. Follow the below steps for the driver installation after OS is installed.



 II. Driver installation
 ___________________________________________________________________
 
 

 For Win98/WinME Users
 _________________________________________________________  

 A. Normal setup

    1. After starting Windows 98/ME, the "PCI Mass Storage Controller" will be detected automatically, 
       then the Update Device Driver Wizard window appears.
    
    2. Click the Next button in the Install Hardware Device Driver window.
   
    3. Insert the bundled driver DISC into drive X.(X: Your CD-ROM drive letter with driver)

    4. Select "Specify a location", then browse "X:\Intel chipset\PCI2IDE\ITE8211(or ITE8212)\Win98_ME\" and click OK button.

    5. Windows starts to copy the driver to the user's hard disk, then click Finish button.

    6. Restart your computer.


 B. Advanced Setup
 
    When you need to install driver for ITE8211/ITE8212 PCI to IDE device.
    The following step will help you to finish the setting.


        1. Click on "Control Panel", then click on "System".

        2. then click on "Device Manager".

        3. Click right button on the "PCI Mass storage controller" and select "properties".

        4. Click "Reinstall driver" button and insert the bundled driver DISC into drive X.(X: Your CD-ROM drive letter with driver)
            
        5. Select "Specify a location", then browse "X:\Intel chipset\PCI2IDE\ITE8211(or ITE8212)\Win98_ME\" and click OK button.

        6. Windows starts to copy the driver to the user's hard disk.

        7. Restart your system.  


 

 For Win2000\WINXP Users

 A. Normal setup

 
    1. After starting Windows 2000, the "Mass storage device" will be detected automatically,
       then the Update Device Driver Wizard window appears.

    2. Click the Next button in the Install Hardware Device Driver window.

    3. Insert the bundled driver DISC into drive X.(X: Your CD-ROM drive letter with driver)

    4. Select "Specify a location", then browse "X:\Intel chipset\PCI2IDE\ITE8211(or ITE8212)\Win2k(or Winxp)\" and click OK button.

    5. Click Finish button, then Windows starts to copy the driver to the user's hard disk.

    6. Restart your system.


 B. Advanced Setup
 
    When you need to install driver for ITE8211/ITE8212 PCI to IDE device.
    The following step will help you to finish the setting.

        1. Click on "Control Panel", then click on "System".

        2. Choose "Hardware" page, then click on "Device Manage...".

        3. Click right button on the "Mass storage controller" and select "properties".

        4. Click "Reinstall driver" button and insert the bundled driver DISC into drive X.(X: Your CD-ROM drive letter with driver)
            
        5. Select "Specify a location", then browse "X:\Intel chipset\PCI2IDE\ITE8211(or ITE8212)\Win2k(or Winxp)\" and click OK button.

        6. Click Finish button, then Windows starts to copy the driver to the user's hard disk.

        7. Restart your system.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
