Upgrading Firmware for Sony CRX10e/x2

         **********
    MAKE SURE THAT NO CD DISK IS USB DRIVE DURING FLASH UPGRADE!!!
         **********

1.  Please uninstall any existing firmware flash tools from the system.

2.  Unzip attached file to a floppy or a directory onto your harddrive.  Run
setup to install the firmware flashing tools v1.06.01

3.  Now you should have Firmware Flashing Tool icon on your desktop folder
and same can be accessed by clicking on: 
  - start button 
  - programs 
  - Firmware flashing tool 
  - icon firmware flashing tool to launch it.

    Ensure that OnSpec USB CDRW drive is connected to windows 98/98se
    system and it is turned on before you launch the firmware flash
    tool.
    MAKE SURE THAT NO CD DISK IS USB DRIVE DURING FLASH UPGRADE!!!

4.  Now click on the button "Flash Atapi" to flash firmware file onto OnSpec
USB interface board.

5.  Click on YES for the current file loaded to flash.  (Here you can select
different version of firmware file by clicking on change if required)

6.  Click on OK for the message "Evaluating current firmware date ...."

7.  Now existing firmware will get saved onto your hard drive.  Click on Ok
for the message file saved...once the progress bar completes storing the
firmware file.

8. Now progress bar will indicate flashing of selected firmware file on to
OnSpec USB interface board.

9.  Click on Finish, when it completes.  
    Switch off power to USB Drive.  Power down and restart computer.
    Check Firmware of USB drive in device manager to make sure it is
    updated.

10.  If firmware has not changed repeat process steps #2 to #9.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
