GT133KT BIOS 1.04 - Modified by MisterE

August 20, 2001
Fourth Release (Revision 1.04p)

------------------------------

This modified BIOS exists because I wanted more flexibility in configuring
the bare bones PC kit that I purchased from Overstock.Com. The official
BIOS releases that I found on the 'net had very few options that could be
configured. I used a program named MODBIN6.EXE to enable almost all of the
configurable options that can be found in this Award BIOS.

You can now enable/disable ACPI power management, change CPU bus speed
(limited control), change memory clock (can set to HOST +/- 33MHz) and
timing, and do a million other things.

------------------------------

Included in this release:

BIOS104P.BIN - The modified bios image.
FLH787A.EXE - The Award Flash utility.
BIOS104P.BAT - Batch file to make flashing easier.
ReadMe.TXT - The file you are reading.

------------------------------

Instructions:

1. Create a bootable floppy disk (Example: FORMAT A: /U /C /S). Delete
   DRVSPACE.BIN, DBLSPACE.BIN, CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT from the floppy
if any of these files exist. Optimally, the floppy should only contain
   IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, and COMMAND.COM at this point (IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS
   may be hidden).
2. Extract eBIOS_04.Zip to the bootable floppy disk.
3. Boot from the floppy disk.
4. Run BIOS104P.BAT to flash the BIOS.
5. When the computer reboots, remove the floppy.
6. When prompted, press DEL to enter BIOS setup.
7. Go to the "EXIT" menu and load defaults.
8. Configure to your liking.

NOTE: It has been reported that a few people are having problems flashing
their BIOS. Symptoms usually include the flash process pausing at 0%
complete (the flash process doesn't actually begin). Thus far, there
have been no reports of inoperable systems after this type of failure.
There is no guarantee of success, but the user can attempt to flash the
BIOS manually instead of using the .BAT file. To do this, boot from
the BIOS floppy (created above) and execute the flash process with the
      following command line:

      A:\>FLH787A BIOS104P.BIN

Manually reset the computer when the flash process is complete (use
(CTRL-ALT-DEL or cycle system power). It is suggested the the user
load BIOS defaults immediately after the manual BIOS flash routine
has been performed. BIOS can then be configured as desired.

------------------------------

Disclaimers:

1. My Andara/Micron/Overstock/whatever bare bones kit came with a BCM GT133KT
   motherboard. Hopefully your's did, too.

2. If you mess up your computer, don't blame me. I have flashed my BIOS with
this .BIN file, and it worked just fine. Use this at your own risk.

3. I couldn't find an Award BIOS "map" that indicated where all the BIOS
options should be (what menus they should be in). I used a couple of
motherboard manuals as guides for placement of BIOS options. Some things
are probably in the wrong menu positions (sorry).

4. I have not been able to get the BIOS POST/boot screen to display IRQ
assignments, plug and play info, etc. I enabled it in the BIOS (I tried,
at least), but it just doesn't show up at boot.

5. There was an option that I saw while in MODBIN6 that would allow for
changes to the CPU VCORE setting. This is enabled, but it isn't showing
up in the menus for some reason (I'll release an update if I can fix this).

6. I didn't change the default value of any option. I wanted to really bad,
   but I restrained myself.

7. I can't guarantee that all the available options actually do anything.

8. I can't guarantee that changing an option will not have unpleasant effects.

------------------------------

This is my first time using MODBIN, and it took me a few tries to get a result
that I could live with. Hopefully you will like it.
