ETHERNET REMOTE BOOT ROM DEVICE =============================== This adapter provides an empty socket for installing the optional Boot ROM device. Once installed, the adapter is able to load DOS from server. This is useful for using the adapter in a diskless workstation. Boot ROM Installation for Novell NetWare RPL Server =================================================== 1. Prepare a blank diskette for the remote boot image file. a. Label a blank diskette "Remote Boot Image" b. From your DOS root directory, type format a: /s c. Files needed on the remote boot image include the following: - For the DOS ODI workstation with NetWare v3.x: LSL.COM PNPODI.COM IPXODI.COM NETX.COM NET.CFG AUTOEXEC.BAT - For the DOS ODI workstation with NetWare v4.x: LSL.COM PNPODI.COM IPXODI.COM VLM.EXE (Need related *.VLM files) NET.CFG AUTOEXEC.BAT d. The AUTOEXEC.BAT file must contain these lines: For example: SET COMSPEC=F:\LOGIN\COMMAND.COM LSL PNPODI IPXODI NETX (or VLM) F: 2. Create the remote boot image file. a. Use this "Remote Boot Image" Disk to boot to connect server to make sure this disk is correct and login to server as SUPERVISOR(or ADMIN). b. Change directory to SYS:SYSTEM and execute the DOSGEN utility. This will create a DOS boot image file named NET$DOS.SYS. Copy NET$DOS.SYS to the SYS:LOGIN directory. c. Copy COMMAND.COM and AUTOEXEC.BAT to the SYS:LOGIN directory. 3. Install the NetWare Server RPL software. a. Copy RBOOT.RPL to the SYS:LOGIN directory. (only for Netware 3.11) Copy RPL.NLM to the SYS:SYSTEM directory. (only for Netware 3.11) NOTE: Netware 3.12 and 4.x have bundled the above two files. b. Add the RPL function to Netware Server : Load RPL.NLM and bind RPL to appropriate frame type(ETHERNET_802.2) of the Server LAN driver. 4. Boot your workstation. a. Run SETUP.EXE of distribution diskette to set "Boot ROM Enable" of the workstation adapter. Set complete and reboot the workstation. b. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
