UPGRADING DEVICE DRIVERS FOR HITACHI HIAE-80/100 PCI 10/100 Base Ethernet LAN Module WINDOWS 95 1. Place the following updated network driver files onto a diskette: NETHIAE.INF HIAEPCI.SYS 2. Go into the Device Manager: Control Panel, System, and click on Device Manager tab. 3. Expand Network adapters and depending on your Notebook model, select: HITACHI HIAE-80/100 PCI 10/100 Base Ethernet LAN Module or HITACHI HIAE-80W/100W PCI 10/100 Base Ethernet LAN Module 4. Click on Properties, then click on the Driver tab, then click on Update Driver button. 5. Select the "No, select driver from list" option and click on Next. 6. Click on the Have Disk button. At the "Install From Disk" window, be sure to point to the "A:\" location, insert the diskette containing the updated drivers into the floppy drive, then click on OK 7. Highlight the device, then click on OK. Windows will install the updated driver files from the floppy drive and then request for the Windows 95 CD-ROM. Click on OK and then point the Operating System to C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS for the remaining files. 8. When complete, click on Close. WINDOWS 98 1. Repeat steps 1 through 4 as listed for the Windows 95 Operating System. 2. Click on Next at the informational window. 3. Select the option for Windows to "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now. (Recommended)". Then click on Next. 4. Check the Floppy disk drives box only. Insert the diskette containing the updated drivers into the floppy drive and click on Next. 5. Windows will locate the updated driver. Click on Next to install. 6. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
