1. Installation

  *** IMPORTANT ***
If a previous version of the Port Replicator driver is present on your PC, be sure to
uninstall it prior to installing the new driver. Refer to step 2 for instructions on
  uninstalling the drivers.

  1. To install the Targus Port Replicator from your PC, first make sure that you
the Port Replicator is disconnected from the PC.
  2. Double-click on the "SETUP.EXE" file from the CD to run the setup application.
  3. Once the setup application is complete, reboot your system. After the system has
rebooted, connect the USB cable from the Targus Port Replicator into the USB port of
your PC. This will initiate the hardware detection process and may take several minutes.
  4. Once all the components of the Targus Port Replicator have been detected and
configured, you may begin using the Port Replicator.

4. Known Issues / Limitations

  1. Legacy software written to address physical com port directly will not function with
the virtual com port of the Port Replicator.
  2. Serial device support is generally limited to mice and modems. Serial device support
beyond mice and modems is limited.
  3. Serial PDA cradles will not sync after suspending a machine unless the SERIAL option
under Hot-Sync is uncheck prior to suspending and recheck after resuming.
  4. Multiple Targus Port Replicators installed on the same platform will cause the
      Ethernet drivers to conflict.
  5. USB mice with PS2 adapters may not function properly on the PS2 port.
  6. Programmable PS2 keyboards and PS2 mice may not function properly on the PS2 port's
      of the Port Replicator.
  7. Parallel storage devices may not function properly on the parallel port of the Port
      Replicator.
  8. Some printer install applications will not recognize the virtual parallel port
installed by the Targus Port Replicator. Manual printer port configuration is required
      for these instances.
  9. Due to the USB 1.1 bandwidth limitation, the theoretical maximum throughput for the
Ethernet port on the Targus Port Replicator will be limited to 12Mb/s. This will
decrease as additional devices are attached to the Port Replicator.
