               NETGEAR FA101 USB Fast Ethernet Adapter

             Driver Installation for Microsoft Windows 98
             --------------------------------------------

  Getting Started
  ---------------
  First, please refer to the Installation Guide for complete installation
  instructions.  When installing the adapter onto your computer,make sure
  the USB port has Series "A" connector.

  Installation Procedure
  ----------------------
  1.  Plug the Model FA101 USB Fast Ethernet Adapter into the USB port of 
      host computer.

  2.  Power on the computer system.
      There will appear "This wizard searches for new drivers for :"
                 
          'NETGEAR FA101 Adapter'
      
      Click 'Next>'
            
  3.  When the Win98 system asks 'What do you want Windows to do ? ' make 
      sure that you select 
        
        "Search for the bast driver for your device. [Recommended]"
      
      Click 'Next>' 
  
  4.  Choose the 'CD-ROM Drive'
      While on the same screen, insert the driver CD.
      Click 'Next>'
  
  5.  WIN98 will find the ' NETGEAR FA101 USB Fast Ethernet Adapter ' and
      the location of the driver: D:\NETFA101.INF assuming that D: is the
      drive letter for your CD-ROM drive.

      Click 'Next>'
  
  6.  The system will copy the necessary driver files into your system.

  7.  Provide the Win98 CD-ROM or the drive path where Win98 files reside
      when asked to do so.

  8.  Reboot the system and check into the Device manager to confirm that
      the Model FA101 USB Fast Ethernet Adapter is working properly.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
