               NETGEAR FA101 USB Fast Ethernet Adapter
               ---------------------------------------
             Driver Installation for Microsoft Windows 2000
             ----------------------------------------------

  Getting Started
  ---------------
  First, please refer to the Installation Guide for complete installation
  instructions.  When installing the adapter onto your computer, make sure
  the USB port has Series "A" connector.

  Installation Procedure
  ----------------------
  1.  Plug the Model FA101 USB Fast Ethernet Adapter into the USB port of 
      host computer.

  2.  Power on the computer system.After the systen decteced the FA101 ,  
      there will appear a "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard" window.
      
       Click 'Next>'
       
  3.  There will appear "This wizard will complete the installation for 
      this device :"
                 
          ' NETGEAR FA101 Adapter '
      
      System will ask "What do you want the wizard to do ?" make sure 
      that you select 
        
        "Search for a suitable driver for my device. [recommended]"
      
      Click 'Next>'
            
  4.  When the Win2000 system asks 'Where do you want Windows to search for
      driver files ? ' make sure that you choose 'CD-DOM Drive' 
           
      Click 'Next>' 
  
  5.  Then, the windows will find a driver for the device.
      The location of the driver is: D:\netfa101.inf assuming that D:
      is the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive.
      
      Click 'Next>' 
  
  6.  A "Microsoft has not digitally signed the driver" window will be
      displayed, click "yes" to continue.
  
  7.  The system will then copy the necessary driver files.

  8.  Check into the Device manager to confirm that the Model FA101 USB 
      Fast Ethernet Adapter is working properly.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
