  ________________________________________

1. Installation

 - NOTE: You must have a PC with Microsoft Active Sync 3.1 or higher for Pocket PC
PDA's or the latest version of Hotsync for Palm OS PDA's installed prior
to installing the Targus IR keyboard and have at least 90KB of free
memory on your PDA. ActiveSync 3.7 or later recommended.

  1. To install the Targus IR keyboard onto your PDA, insert the CD into
an available CD-ROM drive on your PC Computer.
  2. Click START, RUN, then enter D:\setup.exe (where D: is the drive letter of your
     CD-ROM drive)
  3. Select the PDA TYPE and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation. Choose an alternate language by clicking on the world map icon.
  4. Syncronize to copy the driver from your PC to your PDA (if required).

2. Known Issues / Limitations

   Pocket PC:

    1. The user is advised to turn off the IR beam receive before activating the
driver (Start/Settings/Connections/Beam - deselect the checkbox).
    2. On the Casio E115, the backlight will Dim unless the user manually
deselects this option in the Control Panel.
    3. No menu navigation between menus using right/left arrows. Use the mouse.
    4. Del key does not work with document in pen mode due to limitation with Pocket PC.
To use Del key either leave the virtual keyboard up or turn the pen mode off.
    5. On some PPC 2003 PDA's, the mouse pointer may disappear into the background when
in idle more or sometimes in motion. There currently no fix for this issue.
    6. The e350 and h2200 appear to have some kind of graphics bug which affects
the look of the mouse (see #5, above).
    7. On some PDA's, you may encounter a slight delay (lag) when typing fast.
    8. Acer n10-2003 is not supported (older n10's are OK).

    PalmOS 3.x/4.x:

    1. Some Handspring models do not have the Graffiti Demo application ('gdem')
installed, so they fail to launch it when Fn+Today=Graffetti is pressed.
    2. No menu navigation using up/down arrows. Ctrl+Left, Ctrl+right navigates
to previous/next menu. Use the mouse to select.
    3. The "Date" key always calls the standard DateBook application. On some
models there might be a 2nd datebook app (E.g. 'HsDB'). To create a
hotkey for a preferred datebook, use one of the Alt+# function keys.

    Palm OS5:

    1. Due to bugs with Palm OS5, might get failure messages and reset PDA when
making calls to the keyboard driver in a combination of steps.
    2. The mouse operates as a jog wheel instead of a free-roaming mouse due to
        OS5 limitations (Mouse_up=Jog_up, Mouse_down=Jog_down, Click=Jog_push).
For Palm brand OS5 PDA's, click the mouse, then operate the jog function.
    3. Don't run the Clie Demo or the CLie Remote Control app while the keyboard
        is enabled.
    4. On PALM Tungsten and ZIRE PDA's, the mouse pointer feature is not supported.
Instead, the directional pad acts as HIGHLIGHT scroller. See #2, above.

    HARDWARE limitations:

    1. Ctrl + Right Shift + any arrow does not generate a scan code. Use Ctrl +
Left Shift + arrow instead (E.g. for word text highlighting).

          - App Hot-keys: Some would fail w/ hourglass. Search for running instances
of Notes, Word, Calendar or Excel and switch to them if already running.
